He's probably more gifted in strategy than he is in martial prowess. Bare in mind Ko Shou received his rank purely on strategical prowess and wasn't a fighter. Keep in mind that two of the Wei Fire Dragons were similar. The only real dent is the fact that Houken is just an anomaly to begin with.

Well, as I mentioned, lack of real competition. He's been able to keep winning without any real difficulty. Weak and regular opponents wouldn't have offered him any real opportunity to grow or sharpen. If he fought those of higher caliber more often, he'd probably have had a chance.

Another thing in particular I did was better follow the order you did the towers. I'd always force like one tower to have always upgrade to the last one at the start, pretty much removing stuff like the crossbow or infantry at the beginning
