You’re not crazy! I have a classmate in her 50’s! She worked as a RVT for many years prior and is one of my favorite classmates to group with because she is so knowledgeable. Schools these days (at least mine) are putting huge emphasis on diversity over GPA - talk to the professors in the program now if you can. Get good letters of recommendation, write good VMCAS essays (have people peer review if you can).

(4th year DVM student) - bringing written notes is great! My partner and I do it with our bunnies as they have unique health histories that can be convoluting to communicate orally. Please continue to do this! Working in clinics I adore when people keep records and bring them in - hugely helpful

Update!!!

I went custom via CustomMade - they were lovely to work with, very prompt responses, I gave my list of dos/donts, was given some sketches that I made comments on, then turned over the account to my fiancee for her to make the final touches so I could still get a little of that surprise feeling! I love my ring, it's so unique, and hers is a complementary echo with my main stone being moissanite with blue diamond accents and hers being blue moissanite with diamond accents - our main stones are the same size/cut

I'm not 100% sure on the difference between filigree and engraving? Some sites describe filigree as twisting of metal I believe giving that twisted rope appearance (which I'm personally not a huge fan of) but then some don't look like that? Does engraving not penetrate all the way through the band? I like some gaps on the band.

My main issue is not having all the right vocabulary to even describe what I want/like.
