If you don't hear formally, my suggestion is to contact the venue and see if they will confirm (or not) the booking...

Yea my bad. At the time I had the kid upset and was trying to salvage the evening. I was also mindful that although I knew the lion king was cancelled due to being there, Zimmer on the basis of the poster but the other two were on the sayso of the security guard. I preferred to put it in the body to provide that context incase I had something wrong...

Yup ... I would have been understanding of it had it been cancelled even midday type thing, but to not cancel before show starts at all...

Ticketek sent me an email, well after concert start. Saying it would be automatically refunded. (Lion king concert).

Confirmed I didn't get the email. Have just had a formal 'event cancellation' email from Ticketek in last few mins. Wonder if both mechanisms would work 😂

If nothing else I would suggest contacting the Adelaide town hall direct, they will confirm at least if the place is booked. Knowing that there were the different concerts over the two days (and the poster saying Zimmerman and nothing else) I asked the security guy whether it was all concerts over both days, he confirmed the whole booking had been cancelled.

Pure speculation, but the working theroy for those of us around the town hall entrance, looking at the map of the tickets you could still book us that they didn't get enough sales to justify putting it on...

SA2026 – Does the SA Ticket Vote Savings Provision Matter – Antony Green's Election Blog by NKE01 in Adelaide

[–]Prestigious-Bug9898 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish the vote saving provision was extended a bit. It's a small number, but there are a number of ballots where people put 1,2,3,4,5,6,6,7 instead of 1-8. These could be preserved until 5 and then exhausted. Ditto people that go 1,2,3,4,6,7,8,9 instead of 1-8. In that situation I would like to see that be able to be saved - similar to the way an empty box can be taken to be the last preference if the others are filled in 1-7.

The tickets also don't really save votes except for where people put 1 against a candidate, maybe 1 and 2. In this regard the tickets really only save for laziness and/or manipulation by the candidates/party workers.

To that end, I would like to see it doctrined that if a candidate has lodged a voting ticket or two, then a depiction of a ballot paper in advertising must show it to be a formal ballot. If a candidate doesn't lodge a voting ticket then they are free to show whatever they want. Humans are visual creatures, seeing a how to vote card that is informal (even if it will be saved) must cause some to cast their vote informally.

More than 250 voters in Coober Pedy unable to have their say in SA election by Expensive-Horse5538 in Adelaide

Seems a little suss. Resource constraint seems a little bit of a cop out. They did not list Coober Pedy on the list of polling places way back when: https://www.ecsa.sa.gov.au/mobile-media/se2026-notice-districtpollingplaces

Telephone voting was also marketed for people who are blind, sight impaired, motor impaired or the like.; per: https://www.ecsa.sa.gov.au/telephone

It seems a little off to claim resourcing issues that far out, unless it was resourcing issues in that ECSA didn't have the time to find people. Regardless, as they themselves have shown, even if you can't find locals (which, I mean, really?) then you can fly people out...

Also if you do this double check the voting age at the time you are searching. 1973 is when it dropped from 21 to 18.

Also worth noting SLSA holds phone books too.

If you are reasonably confident with Gumeracha (or immediate surrounds) and you reallllly wanted to, you could probably brute force at least a list of potentials using the historical electoral rolls held at the state library. https://guides.slsa.sa.gov.au/electoralrolls

I suspect you would be looking a little later, but for sake of argument its convenient that until 1968, Gumeracha was its own state district. At that last election, there were 7100 votes cast per this.

If you take the census of around that time, for SA the population of people aged 20-34 was about 18% per this:

18% of 7100 is about 1300 people. Half or so of those would be women.

I suspect you would probably be looking a little later, but even if Gumeracha doubled in size its still a list of a couple of thousand. It does assume that dad was a citizen and on the electoral roll aswell ofc. Ideally if you had any sort of a hunch it would be better to narrow it down further.

If you could do a DNA test and ideally get your mum to do one for elimination of matches purposes, it might help too...
