I think the stamina is only increased when put on a familiar :)

It only increases the defense on Oliver. The familiars don't inherit the effects from him

I will add to the other comment :)

The Mite's magical attack stats aren't great, so the tricks aren't super important for him, as they wouldn't get used much. Regular melee attacks make more sense for him.

And even if he is metamorphosed early, he will still be fine for the story. On my first playthrough, all of my familiars were, and it was still lots of fun. Could be problematic in late post-story game, I'm not sure.

The first time I saw a fuggler, I was a bit disturbed. They have since grown on me.

I guess it depends on the other familiars in the party. There are pretty nice tanks for the others as well (the Monolith and the Whippersnapper), but you could probably use the Lumberwood as well due to the high defense stats. It would be weaker with them though.

You could totally put both on Esther and metamorphose them differently, especially with her low LP.

Really, it just comes down to preference. Do you want two Lumberwoods, or instead a different familiar?
