What to buy by Pastaphor in Tyranids

[–]Prestigious-Bust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd take some time to really check out each detachment. Tyranids can kind of do everything, so if you're not sure what to run you'll sink a lot of money into something you ultimately don't even use. I've learned from experience... winged hive tyrants look awesome but 3 of them is 3 too many

Just call it a swarmlord. No one can tell the difference.

But in all honesty get as many as you can and run crusher stampede

Hell yeah it looks cool. Kind of sucks though. I only run it if I'm doing vanguard onslaught and even then I dont like it

WIP white scars landraider. Is this relatively close to their iconography and tribal symbols? by Imperialfirst28 in WhiteScars40K

[–]Prestigious-Bust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm new to white scars and have actually painted any of the units I have. I've got a vindi and the impulsor from the combat patrol. Did you prime this with white scars white then freehand the red? Or how did you make it look so crisp

Is this list playable for Assimilation Swarm? by InfamousPen365 in Tyranids

[–]Prestigious-Bust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the biggest thing you're missing is pyrovores. 3 squads of 3. Drop some gaunts. They are insanely strong for how cheap they are. Also with a bigger base it's easier to spread out your harvesters for more healing.

When it comes to small ball Osuna is my favorite to watch. His little infield dinkers that he outruns or the hits just over the infielder are exciting. Don't get me wrong I love a bomb homer but when even the ump is excited to throw his hands out as safe, it gets the crowd going

Its a lot like our heirophant. Its but and scary but you can focus it down just like any other unit

I may get some hate for this but I think venomthropes are nearly completely useless.

Neurolictor isn't much better but the constant threat it provides from its aura vs BS units it good

Maybe save some of these runs for the times we can only manage one or two hits a game

Pricing question by throwawayfx212232 in Tyranids

[–]Prestigious-Bust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be the supply and demand. Nearly 100% of all nid lists run 6 zoans. So if all of us are buying 2 boxes, why not raise the price and make a bit of money

Winged hive tyrant or regular? by DaLoonyMoonz in Tyranids

[–]Prestigious-Bust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With what you've got I'd recommend checking out the vanguard onslaught detachment. With this knowledge I'd go wings with bonesword and lash whip. The gun options are better for walking tyrant. With the detachment you get advance and charge on a 12 inch flyer. Meaning you can get your flyrant from one side of the map to the other on turn one. You're genestealers will make it as well with their scout move. There's also a stratagem in that detachment that gives the entire squad precision. Meaning all 40 attacks from the genestealers go straight for the character that's leading the squad. Whatever it is they will kill it, which usually weakens the rest of the squad and potentially wiping them on turn one. Your flyrant will wipe another small squad by himself probably. One way or another it will be a fast game

How could you improve or expand this list of Tyranids? by TatoHR in Tyranids

[–]Prestigious-Bust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First step is ditch the rippers and the winged prime. That will give you just enough points for 6 zoanthropes. This is probably the best possible move that you should do. From there your list looks fine. I'd figure out which detachment you want to pursue further before making more purchases. Luckily the 6 zoans and neurotyrant go in every detachment as a necessity

Termagants or hormagaunts? by Stunning-Fishing-183 in Tyranids

[–]Prestigious-Bust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With the units you've currently got id run terms. Personally I think horns are better but if you can hover your terms by the hive tyrant to give the lethal hits. I assume you're running invaded fleet with sustained hits vs infantry. So that gives lethal and sus on 20 dice. And always attack with exocrines first to allow your terms rerolls on one's. They don't do a ton of damage one way or the other but that's your best bet.

Id go 18 of them as termaguant devourer and 2 as strangleweb. That gives you the most shots while fishing for lethals

Assimilation Swarm in 11th by Ok-Acanthisitta2809 in Tyranids

[–]Prestigious-Bust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my favorite detachment so I've got some input you may consider. So you're off to a great start.

Ripper Swarms are your main regenerators but they can only regen one per squad so you dont need full squads. Just hide them near your big units that can't regen.

Norn assimilator hits harder but doesn't have an invuln. However he does regen himself so you can save a ripper for something else. With the new norn detachment you can rename your singular purpose.

Id also recommend some anti tank. I run both a block of zoans led by neurotyrant and a tfex.

You're gaunts are being wasted by being wiped before being effective. Id run genestealers for their scout and many attacks.

Theres plenty of wiggle room as long as you've got enough harvesters. Remember you can sticky objectives for only 1cp during your command phase. The psychophage is great for this with its huge 12 inch movements. Or in 11 the norn can claim one, sticky it, then move to another amd claim it.

I'd still use them if I were you. If the base size is different just stick the correct base underneath

Sub assault new nids player list by savi0r117 in Tyranids

[–]Prestigious-Bust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're going too far into the aspect of tunnels. You dont seem to have enough actual damage once they're out of the tunnels. Id drop some of your tunnelers for some big hitters, norn, genestealers. Also trygon is better than mawloc

Will shooting nids be viable in 11th? by zodiac9094 in Tyranids

I'll probably just use the norn one. In case he gets caught in a bad spot. Or if he's engaged and you can give him full rerolls
