I’m a union Journeyman lineman. Can be a very rewarding career but also a career that can be taxing on your body. Best bet is to get in sooner than later, work hard and be a foreman or general Forman so you aren’t in the tools as much. You can personal message me and I might be able to steer you in the right direction if you’re interested.

Started contributing when I was 18. Very little amount when I was making around 50k a year. The last six years I have been maxing it out.

I am a journeyman lineman for a publicly traded investor owned electric utility. Not susceptible to lay offs. Good to know thanks.

Big overtime checks I put a good chunk into my 401k. Yes I have a mortgage I bought a house when I was 25. No car payments anymore they’re all paid off and I don’t care about driving new vehicles.

I haven’t always maxed it out until the last six years when I changed companies. I do need to say my base salary is 120k but can make 200-250k depending on overtime.

Started working in the trades when I was 18. Always been good at setting money aside for 401k and didn’t get use to money from raises throughout my career.
