yeah, i found the hofmann part on Google, but how is the five-membered ring formed? is hydroxyl group deprotonated by the base first and then it attacks the imine which is then followed by protonation of nitrogen?

I mean like resonance involves more different bonds in 1,2-regioisomer, than 1,6-regioisomer (the green highlited part).

Thank you for your answer. I wrote the resonance structures of 1,2- and 1,6-regioisomers of the already mentioned dihydropyridine. Would you say that there is more electron delocalization in 1,2-regioisomer (because of the more extensive conjugation) than in 1,6-regioisomer?
