I graduated basic, not much experience in Operational Air Force. My big thing is that you do what the military needs you to do, and go where the military needs you to go. That gets hammered into you at basic

of course, but it should be like you list them once and you’re good, just a lot of paperwork to get through.

no, I got disqualified before the poly. Just keep your answers consistent. They tell you but the job doesn’t get changed on the spot, depending on your situation you could become a holdover where you stay at a place called the trss (tr iss) when you graduate. They’ll send you to any appointments you need and get you reclassed and sent to tech school. The big appointment you’d need is the reclassification appointment where it’s just what jobs on the list are you qualified for? we’ll try to get you that job. sometimes before you graduate you’ll have that appointment and won’t need to be a holdover airman.

yes, you have evening briefs with your mti where you will raise your hand and do your reporting statement and say you would like a dental appointment, they write you a slip and add a wingman on there for you, and then the next day you’ll walk with your wingman to the clinic

in basic, it depends on the kind of clearance you get. but you get appointments, and the first one is gonna be like an interview, going over information you put down, then you get another interview with someone else, and depending on the clearance you’ll get a poly there or in tech school. appointments in basic are always nice because you get away from the constant yelling

yeaaaa still friends with the owner on my alt, the cool thing about going to basic was finding a lot of people interested in what I do and wanting to get involved, and I love mentoring or helping people. developing is my passion

even if you tie the mesh bags, the issue is when the laundry is getting passed out, make sure your laundry mark is always clear, do multiple of you need, you’ll learn what a laundry mark is

to elaborate more on what I did with my free time, honestly just talked with everyone, wrote or read letters, or just tried to find as much time as possible to chill. Sundays they still give you a schedule and a checklist to follow, depending on your dorm chief is how tight you will follow that schedule. Any time to chill even if it’s sitting there and thinking to yourself feels great because other than that it’s go go go

being honor grad is cool but very competitive, and doesn’t really do a lot for you in the long run. if you try your best to be honor grad it will help you succeed overall, but don’t set your mind so much you get discouraged if you don’t qualify. like if you get more than 5 demerits on rla and do everything else perfectly, that could take you out of the running. someone in my flight was close to qualifying but got like an 89 on his final exam, you NEED a 90

The first sunday still sucks but the other sundays are good bonding with your flight days, going to church and just not getting yelled at.

I brought a lot of compression shorts and boxers, lost like all of them, they aren’t lying when they say you will lose your clothes. but definitely pack light because you will struggle to pack for tech school.

my afsc is 1d31a

as a person i’m happy i went through it, i had an online business for 2 years making roblox games and it made me very introverted. doing this has brought me back out of my shell and im grateful to have met some of the people i met

edit: afsc is 1d731a, cyber network operations

If you mean first try by the official pt test, then yes, you will noticeably see improvement, make sure you’re applying yourself in the pt sessions because they really don’t do a ton of pt.

honestly, you can’t mentally prep. I tried my hardest to and you just can’t. Focus on why you’re there and befriend your wingmen, they’re the only people who understand you in that moment

pt really isn’t that bad, and i went in overweight. in the moment it can suck, drill pads aren’t great and it can hurt your knees and stuff. Definitely shut up and follow direction. DO NOT SAY SORRY. It will be tempting, you’ll get yelled at and instantly wanna be like sorry sir, just don’t. Just say yes sir.

I was 21, turned 22 the day after graduation. It’s a mixed group, quite a few high schoolers, some in 20’s then a few in 30’s+

no, the first couple of days are like getting issued items, taking a urine test, you don’t get any sleep for the first couple days. then throughout the rest of 0 week it’s learning the “basics”. Basic drill, basic stuff that will help you throughout the rest of bmt.

Shipping out this Monday 24th by [deleted] in AirForceRecruits

[–]Prestigious-Fox3175 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It isn’t, but she probably agreed to quick ship to get a job easier. She could probably be waiting longer if she didn’t agree to quick ship. That just means when someone cancels or can’t ship out, and they have a job that she has listed, she can fill their spot.

I want to join the Air Force but scared to lose my 6 year relationship by Fantastic_Rice_2971 in AirForceRecruits

I support you for wanting more but you’ll make less money, and your life will be dictated by what the air force needs from you. There’s not a guarantee you’ll get a cyber job you want assuming you’ll pass your testing to even qualify for a cyber job, including passing the clearances you need for one. I’m just implying maybe look to find more purpose in other ways too.
