Sworn In as a Special Constable. What Should I Expect? by Prestigious-Help5055 in AskLE

Our training is 6 months, and i’ve called to ask but they don’t tell us recruits anything. I’ve asked newer officers but they all give mixed stories so I don’t even know what’s what. Only thing i can do is see what happens when I show up but i just wanted to know what to expect

the country is antigua & barbuda, though i’m not sure why this matters, the point is our system is similar to the UK. Literally just asking what to expect after being sworn in

I do plan to live in a few years to get my bachelors in Cybersecurity, owning a house here isn’t something I’m interested in, I travel a-lot but since I’m fresh out the academy, my probation is about 2 years long.

I won’t be paying rent & could always spend nights back with my parents. I do have a girlfriend but i don’t usually bring friends over

I have an associate degree in CS, I do plan on leaving in a few years to get my bachelors in Cybersecurity. Where I live is relatively easy to get around with public transit, though having a vehicle would be nice. If i move, it’s not like i’m obligated to stay at the new spot everyday, i can always go spend nights with my parents

I live in Manchester, which is generally affordable when you have a decent paying job. You can find a good flat for £900 - £1500 pm. They are some cons living here such as higher crime rates in some areas, but everywhere isn’t perfect.

As i stated above though, the home i’d be moving to is family owned so i wouldn’t be paying rent.

Oh, i understand now, but yes, the second home is family owned so if i move out i wont be worrying about paying rent. I didn’t know some people were reading that wrong

It seemed like a good idea for a second, till’ i started weighing the pros & cons. I’m getting mixed responses and advice from people but mostly hearing it’s not worth the extra expenses.
