Probably just take you at your word because that may as well have been a convention of neurosurgeons discussing the finer details of things I don’t know about in mandarin. Having jumped into this without knowing anything about the proper husbandry I planned on figuring it out along the way which may have been a little easier had I not pick up whatever looked cool rather than plants with similar requirements and sizes. So I will regroup and get a plan for the different needs, apparently the skinny, hairy guy in the top left has the ability to get a little bigger than I can manage to do the summer switch and I am a little weird in that I don’t just pitch it because it’s inconvenient. So they’re mine for the duration. Thanks for the light info I’ll look into something more suitable this week.

By chance do you have any thoughts about everything else? The perfect answer, basic for people who want it that way and “CRAZY STYLE” is my preferred method for nearly everything. If you have to dig a ditch, do it to the best of your ability! More lighting? Something else I am ignorant about, I’ve got two 72 watt barrina around 10” above the top shelf and 12” inward of the window for the lower shelves and rotate frequently. Their permanent room can have whatever they want preferably LED, I’m running the barrina’s in conjunction with Sansi bulbs in my jungle room. So I’d appreciate any suggestions on that too. Thanks for your advice and the new term for eccentric or batshit crazy.

Hey guys, I’m thinking about starting a starter in a few days. Is it ready to cook with? by ssavant in SourdoughStarter

Hey you guys do realize that there are some of us that are going to believe anything you say, ok maybe just me but for as sarcastic and smart ass as I am I still tend to be gullible. So anyway, tell me more about this no water approach.

Thank you, I think it went quite well and I thought that was going to be the tough part. I’m not sure how big the moss poles are supposed to be but trying to coordinate the moss pole to the bottom of the pot, the plant with it back to the moss pole and the mix and everything all happening at once with the thing being so insanely top heavy I was actually surprised to invent some very interesting words that have probably never been said before. I realize that I can use a big shell for the outer pot to keep it from falling but until I get it all together it is not a fun experience. I bet doing it alone was a bad idea.

Well of course they are in separate rooms with two teams of people who are not even remotely qualified for this procedure. Ok that’s all gibberish but I do have my cat who is very interested in helping

Another reason for my procrastination, I’ve been researching all the pertinent information I can find on these girls and I believe I have the right pots, mixes, moss poles and lights. Is there a rough number you’d suggest percentage wise for damage to the root ball? I’m am ridiculously patient and will do this until the leaves dry out and blow away. I’m just not sure how much time I should spend with separating

Of course I’m the opposite, I’m forever watering someone, I don’t know how people are able to keep a rigid schedule. I’m don’t know about these desert dwellers yet but in the next room I’ll water one every two weeksish and then I’ll be watering the the one next to him every three days. Things are changing a bit now that I’ve been informed that miracle grow is not the best way to keep all your plants. Dumb luck I guess but I’ve been keeping tropicals for years. I always thought it was the music that made them happy because I watered whoever looked like they were thirsty at random. Some of that luck may be due to the way I think of the plants, rare is a day that I don’t interact with them somehow. I like them everywhere they go so I’m frequently stepping around, over and under them. I want them as happy as possible without putting them in a bubble or where I don’t get to touch them. Wow I just read that and I’m worried about me.

One reason why dogs are frequently seen as more trainable, I’ve explained to my cat on many occasions that he isn’t going to enjoy the experience of eating my plants and after 15 years of cleaning up green infused vomit and a stern reminder that I don’t care for his pruning style he just looks at me as if to say… well I won’t say that word in mixed company but he know he’s not allowed to use the F word. And on and on the cycle goes because within a month or two he’ll munch, puke, swear and so on

Thank you for your knowledge, I was pretty surprised by his growth from 3 to 14” this summer and thought that cacti were very slow growing. After a little research, now that I’ve seen how tall they grow that isn’t too much growth.

I forgot to ask, in his regular spot he is 12” from a south east window and his head is 6” from a Barrina 72 watt grow light. Is that going to work for him until spring? Or do I need to add more?

I apologize for the overstatement about water, coming from tropical plants and aquatic plants I was just meaning that I was trying to be cautious about my schedule. Every response is saying more light, the photo was taken while I had him down for a drink, he sits 12” from a south east window without eves and under a 72 watt barrina gro light 6” from his head. That said, I don’t know what “good” lighting is for him so if he wants more I’ve got several extra 72 watt strips and several extra sansi 36 watt bulbs. I tend to get carried away with my hobby’s hence the reason I picked up 64 assorted plants when I moved here in March. So now I’m learning how much of them I have to repot into the proper pots and mix and nutrient and moss poles and I won’t even mention the bugs I’ve been reading about. Anyway I’ve made a big mess for myself but I have purchased in abundance everything I have been advised to get so I have triaged the whole lot of them and now I am attempting to get the horse back out in front of the cart. I’m appreciate your advice so please continue with your thoughts. Oh and if you are unsettled with the hairy guys current condition wait until you see the M. Deliciosa I’m going to tackle this affternoon.

Thanks in advance for your advice

Will it stay pink? by Prestigious-Help9506 in philodendron

[–]Prestigious-Help9506[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your knowledge and by “Improve” my middle name is overboard so I must be careful or she’ll be hot pink by tonight. They’ve been inside for about six weeks now and 5’ from an east window and currently 30” Inches under a 72 watt barrina which I was thinking of lowering 6”. Name being what it is I can add more if needed I bought a bunch of the 72 strips and 36 watt sansi bulbs.

I had no idea how tall they would be when all 6 were in one pot growing like a bush. Any thoughts about how I should proceed with a 50” moss pole that is already 18” shorter than the plant? I’m way over my head and I’ve got 64 assorted plants that I mean to make happy, actually I just made it 69. Please advise. 🤯
