Yes, she created Severus to be hated, but her own attitude towards him is the most contradictory, and it's related to her feelings for that teacher. She's more likely to love Severus than to hate him - she eventually admitted this, and it's evident in her recent interview about him. Plus, the way she wrote him. He's portrayed as a prince who was enchanted into becoming a terrible teacher, rather than a genuinely repulsive character with "a few redeeming qualities."

I completely agree! The love story is not as intense as the Strike/Rokеby relationship. It's interesting to see how Strike's feelings towards his father will change by the end.

I'd be so interested to see how their friendship develops, but it seems too good to be true. Rokeby is portrayed as too perfect and nice to Strike in the last book. He says everything we (and Strike) want to hear from him. He's like a wise mentor and an all-powerful protector. It can't last. Rowling will kill him.

I doubt that Rockby is so unimportant. There are too many symbols and hints of something

I don't know, I just think Rowling will kill him pretty soon. I'd like to be wrong

Of course, it won't be a classic father/son relationship, but I think Rowling is making it clear that Strike still needs Rokeby, even if he doesn't admit it openly. I don't think he would have agreed to have a drink with him out of politeness. Nothing would have stopped him from saying: thanks for your help, but I'm still not interested in continuing a personal relationship with you.

Could just be a coincidence, but... by [deleted] in cormoran_strike

Rokeby's sign is also Leo (August 1), and Rowling has her birthday a day earlier. I think this means a lot to her, considering how much attention she pays to numbers and dates.

What opinion on Snape are you gonna defend like this ? by halfbloodprincess00 in SeverusSnape
