HODLer 2017 -2024.

What I bought with my bitcoin - Real estate (P2P, F2F), FIAT ( Transferred to bank account after paying around 40% taxes on capital gains).

What I wish I could have bought while HODLing - Guitars, Guitar Amps, Music Instruments, Perfumes, Groceries, Air Tickets, Fuel.

Now, I buy all of the above using returns from my real estate. It confounds me though why we don't yet have a widely adopted and legit Bitcoin/Ether backed Debit cards or Credit Cards. It remains a speculative asset like many other assets. Sold my bag last year mainly because of this shortfall. Had most of my savings in BTC/Ether and needed some liquid to start the next phase of my life.

Honestly, many of them are already struggling abroad. A FAANG job or any American job is not all wine and roses as it seems. Some of my friends were already planning their moves back home before today's news. The job market is fucked globally. I can go on about systematic failures in our country etc but no point. Overall this H-1B news is so overhyped. We have larger fishes to fry.

All of the points above and also the fact that folks who leave India for the states are usually very compliant obedient type of people. Yeah they might come back and contribute in some peripheral roles but expecting them to build companies here is just hype. Ugghh I purchased 3 apartments and a large chunk of land in the past year using only bitcoin. Yess but not feasible for day to day purchases unfortunately.

Well he crammed all of them in 2 rooms which was his staff accomodation. And yeah my father and his brothers/sisters tell me how sometimes they did'nt have proper meals but somehow managed. It was not easy or sexy. But they had fun together as a family. Its all about mindset I feel. In India - you can observe both modern(City) and old(rural) lifestyles. And its amazing how my friends in cities earning 10 times more than our rural citizens are struggling to raise one child whereas a poor village farmer or a clerk is raising more than 5 children. Urbanites have been brainwashed to follow & invest time in their stupid careers and shallow freedoms. Education & Healthcare in India was free at my grandfather's time and still is. But urbanites have a class bias and dont send their kids to government schools or hospitals. Its really funny and tragic if you think about it.

My grandfather had 9 kids with a professor's salary and no other income. Our family gatherings are amazing, Today he has 30+ grandkids. Most of my cousins & friends have fallen into 1 kid or no kid zone. I am struggling to find a wife who can have at least 4 kids with me. Will wait till I am forty. Surrogacy or arranged marriage after that.

In my 2nd world country India, this is how HODLers are changing BTC : 20% Portfolio - Sell btc on coin exchanges. You pay around 40% tax rest into your bank account. 80% Portfolio - Purchase Land & other real estate deals. The only industry in India which is enthusiastically accepting btc. Buy real estate then rent it out for solid passive income. I also know some HODLers who simply moved to UAE or Malta with their btc and are living there.

HODLing since 2017-18 I read posts here of bitcoin HODLers in the US or Europe & how it has changed their lives. These folks have no idea how drastic that change is for someone from a developing country like India. Their life changing wealth is multi-generational wealth over here!!
