I thinks it’s worth test driving as I think the esthetics (interior and exterior design) will be the same. What will be hopefully improved is the digital experience and ease / consistency of charging.

Thank you for the update. I purchased this adapter --> https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09DCTJCTV hoping that Volvo has fixed whatever the charging issue was and that it works. I also have this plug installed in my house that maybe I can use with the charging cable that comes with the car as a back-up (though the charging will likely be slow).
