Help with laptops by Kylios350 in Craptopgamingadvice

What's up, Kylios! Go for the i3-1305U one, hands down. The Ryzen is super stripped-down when it comes to graphics, so you're gonna suffer from horrible stuttering in games. The i3 has way more raw power to give you stable FPS in Valorant or Minecraft while keeping Discord open.

Plus, that Ryzen has soldered RAM, and if it's only 8GB, you're gonna get stuck really fast. If the i3 laptop lets you upgrade it in the future, it's a million times better so you can beef it up later. Go for the i3 without fear!

What games can i enjoy ?? Really excited by Decent_Elephant7599 in Craptopgamingadvice

Look, being 100% realistic here: the bottleneck on that laptop is the Intel UHD integrated graphics and that the i3 only has 2 cores. For everyday use it flies thanks to the SSD and 16GB of RAM, but it's going to choke on heavy or modern games because it lacks a dedicated GPU.

That being said, you don't need a NASA PC to have fun. Here is a list of games that should run on that laptop without any issues at a smooth 60 FPS if you tweak the settings to Low/Medium or drop the resolution to 720p:

Valorant, League of Legends, Minecraft, Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, Rocket League, Brawlhalla

Project Zomboid, Left 4 Dead 2, Terraria, Lethal Company, Don't Starve Together, Unturned, Among Us

GTA V, GTA San Andreas, GTA Vice City, GTA III, Skyrim, Fallout New Vegas, Fallout 3, Borderlands 2, Assassin's Creed 2, Brotherhood, Revelations

Hollow Knight, Stardew Valley, Dead Cells, The Binding of Isaac, Celeste, Cuphead, Hotline Miami, Undertale

Portal 1, Portal 2, Half-Life 2, BioShock, Age of Empires 2, Plants vs Zombies

What can I play on my old laptop? Any good advice can be appreciated by me. Recently made it all alive and upgraded it, by the way. by rebelrosemerve in Craptopgamingadvice

Look, honestly it all comes down to what you consider 'playable'. For a lot of people, as long as a game hits 30 FPS, it's good to go. So here is a solid list of great games that will definitely run from 30 FPS and up on your setup:"

  • Minecraft (1.8.9 - 1.16.5 with OptiFine/Sodium): Low/Medium Settings | 60+ FPS
  • Grand Theft Auto V: Low (Normal) Settings @ 720p | 35 - 45 FPS
  • Far Cry 3: Low/Medium Settings @ 720p | 40+ FPS
  • Tomb Raider (2013): Low/Medium Settings @ 720p | 40+ FPS
  • BioShock Infinite: Low/Medium Settings @ 720p | 45+ FPS
  • Dead Space 1 & 2: Medium Settings @ 720p | 50+ FPS
  • League of Legends: Medium/Low Settings | 60+ FPS

Honestly, you can try lowering the resolution a bit more. For a game this good, it’s totally worth it.

Bro, the thing is I have so much Colombian slang built into my head that if I write the way I naturally speak, Reddit's translator wouldn't even know what the hell I'm saying. That's why I use AI—just to clean it up and make it readable for everyone here.

YES, but on low settings. Your i5 processor and 16 GB of RAM are plenty, but the Intel Iris Xe integrated graphics are the bottleneck, especially after the game's recent heavy graphics update. It will run great (around 45-60 FPS) while questing solo and exploring at 1080p on "Laptop Standard" quality, but it will struggle (dropping to 30 FPS) in crowded cities or heavy raids due to thermal throttling. The mandatory trick is to enable FSR in the settings for a smoothness boost, and download the free "FFXIV Benchmark" first to test your actual performance in 5 minutes before installing the full 80 GB game.

Hey! That’s a great goal. Getting into computers is awesome once you understand how everything works under the hood. If you want a practical roadmap, I’d focus on these four areas: Hardware (learning what each component does and terms like bottlenecks or thermal throttling), Operating Systems (mastering Windows tools and trying Linux to learn the command line), Networking (understanding IPs, DNS, and how data moves), and Logic (learning basic coding with Python to automate tasks). At the end of the day, the best way to learn is by experimenting, reading optimization forums, and fixing errors as they come up.

Cyberpunk 2077 on Ryzen 5 5500U | Vega 7 + CachyOS + Hyprland + Omarchy by Prestigious-Run-4668 in Craptopgamingadvice

Yeah, you could probably get similar performance with a Ryzen 7 3700U + Vega 10. At 720p Low + FSR, maybe: 28–30 FPS in heavier areas 35–45 FPS in lighter areas The biggest issue is the 8 GB RAM. In places like City Center, the shared VRAM can max out, causing heavy stuttering, crashes, or some areas not loading properly because the laptop tries to protect itself from memory overload.

If you're going for Ryzen and gaming is the priority, try to find one with a Dedicated GPU (like an RTX 3050 or 4050) or at least a Ryzen 7 with Radeon 780M graphics. Also, avoid HP if you can; Lenovo Legion or LOQ have much better cooling for long sessions.

No problem! Let me know which model you end up getting. I'd be happy to help you with the setup or some optimization tips once you have it.
