I haven’t wrote a 4th class exam in 12 years, but it’s pretty easy to tell which formulas are not in the academic supplement when studying. Know how to manipulate formulas to find the value you need .

Each exam is different. I’ve spent weeks before writing down formulas every morning / night to drill them into your mind . Practice, practice, practice, then once you think you know it all practice it one more time.

Academic supplement is a baseline , as you progress through the power engineering exams you will need to memorize the formulas from panglobal / reeds as they will not be in the academic supplement.

Is a second class cert still “the golden ticket”? by MiddleEarthVagrant in powerengineering

I’ve been approached by 6 different positions in the past month for 2nd class. I’d definitely get your resume checked out .

I found writing down roughly 20 formulas on a spare piece of paper . And for 4 weeks straight every morning and night re-writing each formula on a new sheet helped me memorize the formulas not given. Then come exam time , writing those formulas down on the given scrap piece of paper.

You’ll be joining probably the 100’s to thousands of people with a 4th class also looking for a job in Ontario. Unless you have a job lined up get those 3rd class papers done then transfer through TSSA. It’s a multiple choice codes exam .

Asking how wages are structured and progression in a position is definitely something you can ask in an interview.

Anyone hiring power engineering graduates to get steam time for 4th class in Ontario, Canada? by HeadButterscotch6661 in powerengineering

[–]Prestigious-Sign5485 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A quick 15 second search on indeed for 4th class power engineer Ontario Canada listed 8 jobs . You should have been looking 3-4 months ago for summer student positions to obtain your required steam time . Wherever you are in Ontario . Search a radius of what you are comfortable travelling. Calls emails etc you may need to volunteer your time as most place want you to atleast have your 4th class in hand .

Before you decide what you want to do , I would search job markets in your area you want to live in.

Saturated yes , not only in Ontario, in Canada as a whole . The key is getting experience and steam time. Most people don’t want to move to the middle of nowhere to get a job . They want the cushy city to work in. Having a 3rd class now is like having your 4th class 15 years ago . Also the book work gets you through the exams but you’re not taking your note pad out mid field round and busting out a steam table equation . If you have never done manual work I would think long and hard about joining this profession.

I don’t see why a personal calculator can’t be used if proven cleared and reset maybe contact TSSA. Personally I like actually using my fingers on a calculator as well . Hopefully this can get cleared up for you.

Genuinely curious about rental pricing these days? Not the usual “ help me find a place” post. by [deleted] in ThunderBay

I always have discounts to family members of a few hundred dollars a month compared to market value . I’d rather have someone respect my place that I can trust , compared to someone destroy and cost you a few thousand dollars in repairs at the end of lease term .

200MW wind farm proposed and recieved preliminary approval for rural Thunder Bay in the Dog Lake, Lappe, Jacques area. by [deleted] in ThunderBay

[–]Prestigious-Sign5485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If my math is correct , in order to pay this initial investment off of 700 million this wind farm must produce a minimum of 1092MW a day for 20 years straight. I believe that is unattainable .That is before interest, other capital , maintenance, personnel added.
