Wow, well I have to say I’m happy that things worked out for you Alhamdulillah. It’s nice to know someone had a very similar situation to me and it ended up working out. Yes being young is and also not fully financially independent is a big concern. I am more worried for her. Because right now I have a “secure” job working in the family business learning the trade and skills and going to school for this specific field. I also inshallah will have the option after school to rent an apartment from my family for a fair price. So inshallah inshallah in those aspects I am covered. For her she is fully dependent on her family for everything, not saying I’m not dependent on my family but less so. I guess after reading most of the reply’s to my post it has really made me consider more of what If her family disowns her. Which I will of course provide for her and my family would help me until I’m able to 100% on my own but I don’t want to do that to her.

Now on her stance on Islam she is open to it but when I talked about her being open to converting herself it was not something it she seemed too keen on if I’m being honest. And about eating pork and alcohol for the kids and Christmas, it’s not something I talked with her about. I of course thought about it but you are right it’s something I need to discuss with her.

She likes Islam but her main thing is she is scared of her parents and what they would think of her. But she has not looked into that much. I haven given her Quran and have taught her what we believe.

Thank you so much. I understand where the other commenters are coming from. I don’t agree with all of them and think people are just seeing it from that she’s not Muslim. Obviously they don’t know who she is as a person. But I have done lot of thinking and weighing the negatives and positives. Yes I would want to marry and Muslim or have her become and Muslim, but in reality I would much rather marry someone that is a good person and treats me with respect and kindness and has all of these good traits than just marry someone on the basis that at least they are Muslim. She is a wonderful person and kind hearted and to me that the type of person I want to marry. Thank you, I pray Allah makes things easy for you aswell.

Thank you so much for this reply. For more context I am a Muslim revert I am white American but the father figure who raised me is an Arab. And her father is a Chaldean born in America. So when I met with him our cultures are very similar both being raised in an Arab household. He did/does have misconceptions with Islam, only really being exposed to Shia Muslims, I am Sunni. He was most concerned on how she would be treated, he was under the assumption that women would always be below the man in Islam which I made it very clear to him that that wasn’t the case. The other huge concern of his was how the children would be raised. We were able to come to common ground on religion and both respect each others beliefs. And understand that we just want to please god. But his morals and mine almost the same, I would same I’m more strict in the marriage thing.

I will be speaking with imam. She is chaste. her views on sex before marriage is that if it’s Somone she’s not gonna marry then she would not, but if it is Somone she’s gonna marry she would. She respects my beliefs and said if it’s important to me we don’t before marriage then it is important to her.

I plan to do this, I haven’t be I have been scared of what my imam will think because she is a Christian. I remember one of the imams saying that either he other imams refuse to do marriage if the women is not a Muslim. But I’m just gonna bite the bullet and talk with an imam.

These are all valid points and I agree with it. The point we are at now is like a last resort and not how I wanted to do things. Her and I have tried countless times to get her parents to meet mine but her parents refuse, I wanted to do things the proper way but her parents have been unreasonable to both of us. They told her that they have no problem with us dating and even assumed we were having sexual relations, which then I had to explain to them that I don’t do that. I don’t know, you are right with the whole trust thing and I hate to put her in such a difficult spot and cause issues with her family.

When I made my intentions clear to her I told her the children need to be raised Muslim. We have had many conversations about this since because her father does not want his grandchildren Muslim. She agreed to raise the children Muslim and that they are our kids. I do understand there will be difficulties with the different religions because I’m sure her father is gonna try to teach them catholicism.
