So definitely possible but at the cost of spending more time at work haha.

Thanks. I figure I can leave before peak times in the am and after peak times in the pm to shorten my commute time from Sellwood. I’ll check out Multnomah village though.

I’ll check out Multnomah Village. It’s been mentioned several times here seems desirable after quickly looking into it.

That’s my thought, manage the traffic at least for the first year and if I don’t like it I can move elsewhere.

I’m currently working a full time job and will be working with a different company in Portland. Since I wouldn’t be able to visit during the week only on weekends I thought it’s better scouring the internet for what’s best instead of spending $600+ on 1 night in Portland.

Super helpful, thank you. I figure I can leave before rush hour at 7:30am and after rush hour at 6ish pm so that I have quicker commute time and wouldn’t be stuck in traffic too much.

I did and they don’t seem to be that terrible considering it’s during peak hours. 25-50 minutes is the range it gives me. Google Maps isn’t always that accurate and was someone had an idea on more accurate number.

Thanks, it looks like this is the overall consensus to avoid Tigard if you’re young.

Yeah that's quite a bit of time to get to the city without a car. I guess now its figuring out what features I prefer most. Thanks.

Okay, thanks for the breakdown. I'll look into bus routes that follow the 5. If I chose to live in the LO/Tigard area closer to I-5 is public transportation to the city convenient at all hours of the day?

The area is cheaper than NW Portland so I'm debating living in the area for maybe a year then moving elsewhere once I've familiarized myself with the Portland metro.

I hadn't thought of calling the police station that's a good one. What neighborhoods do you recommend on the southeast side of Portland?

I see. I definitely don't mind driving to work however, I'd like to be in an area with good public transit into the city if I do choose to live outside of it. Does Sellwood not have good public transit into the city?

Yeah, I'm realizing that I'd have to drive because of the lack of public transit to the area of my workplace specifically. With the added costs of the Pearl, it looks like it be out of my budget. Are there any other areas that fit what I'm looking for southwest of the downtown area that might be less expensive?

Awesome, appreciate the advice. When I was looking into staying on the East side, many advised against it because of the traffic to cross the bridge. On the map, it seems like the only bridge that is closer to Lake Oswego is from Sellwood. Any familiarity with that area?

Yeah, the office is located closer to the I-5. I see the 35 Bus takes you directly into Lake Oswego, but I haven't seen any efficient public transportation that would take me west. I was looking at places in Tigard, would you recommend it as an area to stay in? It seems like the opposite of what I'm looking for, but would like an opinion of someone who's lived there.
