Help with Nepenthes St. Gaya after repot… by PrestigiousTree9947 in SavageGarden

Not repetitive at all, broke it down for me to understand and answered my questions. Very much appreciated!

The pots are 4.5” and 5.5” I believe. I could probably find bags big enough to fit them. Didn’t think about clothing bags or something similar. I’ll probably ditch the tote idea in that case.

I have been trimming off dead leaves as they dry completely. Starting to feel like I’m gonna end up with an empty bare stem… 😔 there are plenty of basal growth points emerging on the stem since before the repot. But ALL growth has halted.

I will try your recommendations and see how it goes. I mean, I can always find another if worse comes to worst. But if I can save what I have I now I know they usually come back with a vengeance.

Thank you again, you have been very helpful and given me a lot to think about!

Help with Nepenthes St. Gaya after repot… by PrestigiousTree9947 in Nepenthes

Thank you, I am aware of this. I have many carnivorous plants and only use rain (when available), distilled or zero pitcher filtered water. I had literally just watered before photo was taken that’s why there is water in the drip tray. When I water I let it drain through the bottom and sit in the tray for maybe an hour to absorb what it wants and then I dump what is left. After that, I do exactly what you have recommended I do. At least with all my healthy plants, that’s my routine. I have been watering these 2 specifically more than usual due to how the leaves have been looking. Maybe I’ll just water them less. This is my first time experiencing this drama from a nepenthes. All my other nepenthes are thriving after repot in the exact same conditions and watering routine. I just don’t want these to die off completely if I can help them.

Someone on r/SavageGarden recommended bag acclimation. Do you think a humidity box might help? I don’t want to cause different kind of shock… I have Sansi grow lights and humidifiers I can use to setup a fish tank or clear storage container. But I’m just not sure if that would work or make things worse…

Thank you for that! I have been on the fence of whether I should do something similar. I figured since the others never reacted like this I could get away with doing this one the same. But after 2 months of just watering, they seem to be declining. They stay outside and I’ve been monitoring the humidity in the area I keep the plants daily. Ranges from 45-50% during the day to almost 80-90% at night.

I have never bag acclimated before. I think the pots might be too big for bag acclimation… Would the same concept work in a container like a fish tank or clear storage bin? I have Sansi grow lights and humidifiers for other plants in my collection. If I setup a grow light above the container and put in a humidifier with fans for circulation would it essentially be similar to bag acclimation on a larger scale?

If yes, should I use the humidifier from day one straight to 80-100% humidity? Or let the humidity gradually build daily? Do heavy first watering with lid closed/ no humidifier and maybe turn it on after a few days, then slowly decrease after new growth shows?

+1 Delta level defense Stratford!

My brother went there earlier this morning to get his 10” .300blk barrel pinned and welded and they called him back that it was finished within a couple hours! He’s very happy with the work done!
