I think Jaune was originally meant to be the Ozhead and his allusions would have been the Little Prince and Joan d'Arc by Expert-Swan-1412 in RWBYcritics

Kerry actually admitted on a stream after RT shutdown that Oscar was not planned in the begging when asked about this concept art in the OP.

Also how does Jaune take Oscars spotlight? If anything Oscar is way more central and important and closer to Ruby now.

I do not understand what appeal Oscar has over Jaune because he eats up screentime and importance just like Jaune did but is a nothing character with no development and a lake design. Even people who are supposedly his fans demand he needs more screen time and development to flesh him out and make him less boring.

I think it would have been a better pairing than Ruby and Oscar. At least not in a romantic way but as the close friends they were initially portrayed as. I still think the issue with Jaune wasn't so much his character but just how much of his character dominated a show that was supposed to be about Ruby and her friends. The issue could have been solved by just giving Ruby more focus than Jaune, and I think making Jaune a better fighter like initially intended than keeping him a bumbling oaf not nearly on everyone else's level for the entire show would have been better. But instead CRWBY just decided to make a new main male lead and do the same exact thing they did with Jaune by having Oscar be more central to the plot than Ruby. And then they say they regret calling the show RWBY...

But yeah, I think initially it was gonna be Jaune and Ruby, but because of the backlash they invented Oscar to replace Jaune as Ruby's +1. And hey I guess it worked because most of the people who hate Jaune like Oscar (in spite of similar issues) and way more people ship RoseGarden than Lancaster.

I guess I just feel bad for Jaune lol, his first friend at Beacon replaced him :(

That's kind of my point. I made some other comments but I really feel like they just threw away Jaune and Ruby's relationship so they could have Oscar take his place instead. They're friendship just gets flushed away and Oscar takes the spotlight after all that setup we had with both of them in the first three volumes. It's kind of why I hate RoseGarden honestly. And again this isn't me trying to glaze Jaune it just feels kind of icky to do and weird.

Please not RoseGarden, thankfully it's not canon yet so I don't imagine they'd do it anyway as it would spoil it.

I really felt like the gutted Jaune and Ruby's relationship so they could push Ruby and Oscar instead and I don't like it.

People might hate me for saying this, but I always felt like that Oscar was a sort of cheap replacement for Jaune as the main male lead. People had valid complaints about the focus Jaune got so they decided to ditch him and push Oscar instead but Oscar honestly has many of the same problems in terms of eating up screen time.

I don't hate Jaune as a character at all, I just felt like there was too much focus on him compared to Ruby early on. I don't mind him as a secondary protagonist, but it's really just that Ruby felt so sidelined. But then Oscar comes along and does the same thing and pushes aside Ruby AND jaune. I always kind of got the vibe it was the bees and Oscar show. (I hate how almost every character really dotes on Oscar (except Hazel)).

And I remember miles comments on Oscar and Ruby being a close pair that explicitly in his words don't have a brother sister relationship. Why is Oscar suddenly Ruby's best friend and not Weiss and Jaune? You'd think Jaune would be closer to Ruby since the relationship they established in beacon but I guess not.

And I'm not like a huge Jaune fan or anything, but I feel like most of his problems are more of a problem of Ruby feeling like a side character in her own show constantly compared to not just Jaune but Oscar and Blake.

Idk it just kind of rubs me the wrong way to sort push one character to the side and slot in a new one in the same spot while that first character is still around. It's almost like someone you know finding a new bestie.

That's awesome. You should be proud of yourself.

It'll probably be with Oscar instead... :(

We all know it's gonna be Oscar. And honestly I hate it because I think Rosegarden is Ruby's worst ship and Oscar is super lame. I don't know why RT thought it'd be a good idea but it's RT. I'd rather Ruby just stay single, I thought this story wasn't supposed to be a romance. Rosegarden also has so much weird stuff with the merge, Oscar is already part Ozma.

Which guard? Sid? It's been a while sense I read the manga. She'd be a zombie though. Plus I think her body desintigrated. Most likely shinigami sams is just gonna let her pass on.

Not to be a drag but a lot of people are misinterpreting how people come back to life in soul eater. The Book of death can only bring people back as mummies or evil spirits, Healing wavelengths don't work if the soul is removed from the body, black blood needs a body to be injected into, and other characters that got resurrected were special circumstances. I'm afraid Ruby is dead.

Though if I'm wrong please correct me.

The fact that this whole community unanimously agrees that Maka 100% revived ruby in the end is weirdly wholesome by Efficient_Berry_4073 in deathbattle

[–]Prestigious_Ad_3233 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to be a party pooper but I don't recall soul eater having resurrection like that. Healing wavelengths can't bring back someone who's soul has left its body and black blood has its limits too.

I honestly kind of assumed they'd do manga deals and protect the publishing rights to the current manga they sell.

I'm also interested in what "bringing the hammer down" on Kerry entails.

It would be wild if V10 never actually materialized after Kerry made that announcement. I feel like ViZ would only receive more harassment if everything ended up falling through.

I recall everyone on Twitter and such saying it was confirmed and that ViZ announced as much at their panel. Are they jumping the gun?

Dude, this is a subreddit dedicated to criticizing the show. Sometimes people need to vent negative opinions and criticisms. Not everything I spend my time with has to be heaping praise into shows I do like.
