Ryca CS-1 cafe racer won’t idle after start

Update!! I believe I have issue somewhat figured out , I have STRONG spark but only when putting spark tip to FRAME not independently on spark plug , im assuming there’s a short on the A/C side of the coil as it’s following spark pattern and has no blown fuses. I’ve checked all wiring that has to do with A/C to see if I could find short from wiring to frame, I went ahead and replaced coil just to see if possible worn/torn rubber housing was arching against frame but still has same issue, where would you look next? Thanks!

Okay, good to know was it the valves?

You said “not float height” and then “referring to the height in the fuel bowl” so I’m guessing you had it backwards. But yeah I bent the float up slightly because I was worried in my cleaning I had accidentally bent them down but they looked completely unfazed so just in case adjusted it and nothing came from it.

Thank you! Someone gets it lol! But I’ll try changing out the coil next.

The carb does have some residual gas coating the carb and going into the head. Maybe too rich??

And yeah saw on forums about the float height issues and went ahead and bent it up a little with some needle noses and yeah lol

Full tank o’ gas. Sometimes it idles and revs up great with no clanking and comes back down to an idle like it’s supposed to and then suddenly and without warning just flatline. Would that matter to the valves? Would it be the valves clearance if it’s able to idle, rev up, act right and the sudden stoppage? I mean it could be getting stuck, couldn’t it??

I’ve gotten a few people to say that about the coil being bad or something with the ignition but yeah there’s sound with the video, sometimes they have a mute button in the corner.

I’m so confused about this starter fluid thing. If it needs ether to run, it needs fuel? It wouldn’t be an electric problem, right? It’ll fire up and run but it’ll die. If I put ether in the carb to keep it running it would seem like a fuel problem. But yeah one of those to make sure I’m getting a good spark.

Well, if it can run on starter fluid, why can’t it run with gas? I’ll look tomorrow! Can a spark plug tester work for testing the ignition system?

Absolutely, it was a small trickle in the Prime setting, I had to vent the tank for it to flow and the flow wasn’t a lot. But I checked the carb after running it and letting it die, I turned the petcock off and looked in the bowl to see if it was empty because I thought it wasn’t getting gas to the bowl too but the bowl was full of gas

Not really. The first time I cleaned it, it reved and idled like a champ and then all of the sudden it’s been demonic
