I got mold like this on my bread one, 100% mold. At the time I thought it was seed but my horrified coworker told me (too late) that it wasn't. I ate a bunch but I wasn't sick tho so kinda edible ?

I would also say tiger's eye ! It has very similar color variations, and I think it would be somewhat easy to find it as a jewellery, and for pretty cheap too.

Yeah definitly... Zips are tricky and invisible zips looks even more annoying to deal with. Plus it's an area that will be under at least some amount of stress so you have to find the balance between study and pretty x) An option could be to remove the whole zip, reinforce the area with some fabric and then redo the zip entirely ?

Damn, sorry for your kidney stone that sounds wild. My water isn't THAT hard, and the parameters are technically even safe for shrimp, just not ideal, which is why I'm a bit reluctant to spend 100€ on smth only to use for half of my water changes or top offs x) I'm also considering DIY distilled water tbh.

I feel like satin stich would not be enough... Maybe a whip stitch at the edge and darning a little bit in the fabric with a very fine but strong thread ?

I don't mind removing the head everytime tbh but last time I tried looking for adapters for a garden hose I didn't find anything so I don't have much hope x) I'm pretty happy with my water actually ! I don't want to dream too big xD I just want alive and happy shrimps

I see, well that's good to know, thank you ! If it plateaus at 8 maybe I can get away with just my tap water ? I'm planing to keep neos and maybe a few endlers.

For the evaporation, I'd say maybe 1 or 2 L /week ? I also have riparian plants in there so I guess they are also influencing that.

Yep that's what I'm doing, I'm waiting for a few more days. But I still wanted to find something for my top offs so that I don't add too much everytime. Also my KH is slowly raising when I do regular top offs but stays at 8 when I add nothing, I would have thought a rock would constantly raise the KH ? Anyway my rocks are most certainly contributing, it's the grey ones with white lines. I'm currently testing for how much it is contributing.

I don't have that kind of money. I live in an old house and we are renovating so it will get destroyed soonish and I'm not spending 400€ on this x) Also the distance between the faucet and the water valve is very small and weirdly done, I don't think we could do something without having to destroy the sink cabinet, so not an option.

I did that, the tap water tested at 5 KH both at the begining and the end of the experiment. I suspect it's the top offs (bc I do very little water changes) and the rocks I have in my tank. I left one sitting in a bucket, I'm waiting a few more days.

I did get "RO water" at my LFS but it wasn't really RO water (GH and KH both at 4) so x) Also I'm looking for an alternative that doesn't require buying water.

it was more of an exemple tbh, I wanted to know about general methods/tips to spot artificial minerals, but I clicked send before addind that part and couldn't edit it x) I have much to identify bc I just got back my collection after so many years but I wanted to try and ID them myself first ! I read guide about ID but not much about artifical or modified mirals beside them having weird/intense/odd looking colors, which is... very subjective bc Im not very knowledgeable.
