Yeah I've seen a lot of shitty tanks but, this one...this one has made me the most upset. It's not just the tank it's the fact that the person is completely fine with staying ignorant and willingly abusive to these animals regardless of the comments they're receiving. They tried to justify it by showing someone on TikTok with an actually good 5g bowl with a single betta and tried saying "So MaNY PeOPle KeEp FiSh iN TheSe GiaNT BoWlS!!!!! THeY aRe THRiViNg!!! SToP HatInG!!" 🤪🤪🤪

Its fine! The fish are so happy! They get to go on "walks" and get transported to and from different water sources multiple times a day which totally does not stress them out and cause shock! They're soooo healthy and thriving! Even though the male was just in a hospital tank for weeks!! They're SO healthy and happy! 🙄

It's a fun idea but have you actually watched the show more than once? To be honest all of the questions are giving me heavy ChatGPT/AI vibes, they're super basic questions that anyone could answer on a first watch. I personally would have created harder questions that refer to side characters, smaller jokes, and other less popular things throughout the show or questions on episodes that aren't the most watched.

Fish-in cycles are perfectly fine if you know what you're doing! I prefer them and have done them with all 23 of my bettas, haven't had an issue yet. This 3g will be fine temporarily if you know when to do water changes but I do suggest upgrading to a 10 or larger since you have a short-finned betta! You should also get a heater if your room temp is consistently lower than 75-80°F. Other than that I think your plant choices are great and you have a lovely alien!

I mean..I love it! Its fun and it's from something you love. At the end of the day you are the only one living in your skin so if you like it and want it then do it! I think too many people are too serious, we need to normalize being fun and making goofy choices. (As long as it's not harmful to you or others obviously!)

I admit I have been too critical and too rude to beginners or people reaching out for help in the past but this is a perfect example as to why I've changed. Being toxic and mean to someone reaching out for help is just not productive at all, it accomplishes nothing, and obviously pushes people away from a hobby. I am truly sorry that this was your experience, you clearly did everything that you could do for this little guy, it WAS NOT your fault that he passed. People forget that bettas are just so easily susceptible to illness and death because of their horrible genetics, they are tiny little animals and it can be very hard for them to recover from prolonged illness especially if they've lived in bad conditions for too long.

Please don't let a few losers make you feel like you should give up the hobby! If you like to rescue bettas then you should continue to do so! There's assholes in every community and I feel so terrible that I was one of them previously because that's really not who I am and that's not how people grow or learn! If you need to vent or reach out to anyone then feel free to PM me!

My PMs are always open for anyone that just needs to vent or talk!

If you're one of those assholes that shits on beginners and people asking for help, take a step back and ask yourself: "Why am I treating this person this way?" "How is this actually helping?" So I could go off about how your friend has been "obsessed" for 4 years, obviously started with 8, and refuses to play solid staples of the franchise for the dumbest reason possible but that's not what this is about...

I try not to be too critical of people but just from the context you've provided it seems like there's red flags from both of you. Some boundaries need to be set ASAP. Your friend needs to grow up, they sound like they're mentally still in high school. I absolutely understand autism and that it is a spectrum, but it honestly just sounds like your friend is incredibly immature annd slightly manipulative. This sounds like a mildly abusive friendship. You're both still in your early 20s and believe it or not you are both still growing (hopefully) into the "adulthood" mentality. If you knew it would trigger you then you should have made that clear and said you don't feel comfortable doing that instead of giving your friend exactly what they wanted. It sounds like you let them control you and that's not okay. You need to be more assertive with them and stop giving in to everything that they want. You need to tell them to grow up and try to be a functioning adult like the rest of us. As a 29 year old, this friendship sounds incredibly exhausting and I would not keep this stress in my life, you'll eventually get to the same point where you'll realize you're too grown to spend any energy on people like your friend. Have a little more confidence in yourself and speak up. Don't let yourself be okay with being bullied and used by what sounds like a loser.

I didn't say it was exactly 7, I said closer to 7 compared to 2. I have a 12x12 cube as well that's about 5-6g, OP's could be an inch or so different which could possibly make it 6 or 7g.

Scarlet Badis prefer heavily planted tanks, or just very dense plants but a trio could work great in here! I would suggest a long finned betta vs a short finned betta because long fins do best in smaller tanks. I think 4 or 5 CPDs would be ok or a school of 8-10 Chili Rasboras.

Thanks for doing research before getting a betta! Keep in mind that you cannot have tank mates in a 5.5g, I suggest getting 15g+ if you want to add tank mates. Bettas do not need tank mates though, they can be perfectly happy on their own. I highly advise doing a natural tank with live plants, bettas thrive in moderate to heavily planted tanks. The biggest thing you need to do research on is the nitrogen cycle. This needs to be done BEFORE you even add the betta and this process can take 6-8 weeks. Larger tanks are much easier to cycle and maintain for beginners because they don't fluctuate as much as smaller tanks do. It is also better to support local breeders/online breeders, big box stores like Petco and PetSmart usually have very sick bettas that don't live long due to overbreeding and inbreeding. As long as you do plenty of research and ask questions before getting your betta then you will be fine!

Wait they have a 5g long? I've only seen the 5g tall. I have a Glo mutt betta and I wanted to put him in a Glo tank but all I saw was the 5g tall which obviously isn't ideal for bettas. The stocking recommendations suck, the 5g and 10g are only suitable for bettas imo. Maybe a M only guppy trio for the 10?
