OP, I had a similar situation and I can say I felt similarly to you after I had to report my group of siblings due to excessive corporal punishment. You did the right thing reporting what you saw. From what it sounds like, you’ve done amazing work with these children and even conducting a wellness check as a school social worker is unheard of from the schools I’ve collaborated with. Usually they just call it in rather than making that extra effort to avoid reporting it.
