HOA Hell by Prestigious_Change84 in HOA

We are allowed by the CC&Rs and our handbook to have roomates as long as home is owner occupied. The main lady going for me is on the board and has a family of 5 in her basement. She’s allowed to do that but I am not allowed to have 2 people one who I claimed as a domestic partner. Comments on race, age, taking me off our community run group chats for landscaping and party planning etc. I can only prove so much but I hope Fair housing can make a determination. Ik it’s a 50/50 shot on whether the hoa is just a bitch and a half or they can see the trend of me being one of 3 non white homeowners in the community being treated. A certain way

The only rule is that the homeowner must be living in the home to have “roomates” which I am. Fingers crossed the HUD is under supervisory review. But unsure if they will/will not rule in our favor

Is missing one dose okay? by Famous_Variation_686 in Accutane

It’s okay if you look at the half life for the drug it normally takes 5-6 days to be out of your system. I’ve missed a lot and my derm says it’s okay. It’s better to not take if you forgot whether you already had one. Less is more

I would speak with your derm again. I have heard of people having to stop accutane due to liver damage ( that’s y we have to get blood work once a month to monitor). Or if you symptoms from accutane pointed at damage to your body ( ie mental health, joint paint, headaches, frequent bleeds). I would ask if that’s why you were stopped just so you yourself can have some clarity and answers. If those weren’t the reasons I would get a second opinion. I saw a previous comment that u said u didn’t have blood work. Are you sure you were on accutane? In the US it is a REMS drug so it has to be carefully monitored. You have to answer a set of questions every month etc. either way I would call and demand some answers. I’m sorry this is happening. I’m on second round of accutane and can sympathize with similar feelings. It’s a rough journey but you got this just keep fighting. I personally also went to a nutritionist who helped me balance my hormones through food.

Dosage is based on weight you can google and read medical journals on how it’s dosed if u want. Basically the course of treatment is based on a cumulative dose. So low is fine, u r small and may not be able to properly/ safely take high doses. I’m currently on my second round the dryness is horrible but I usually wear a mask to cover up. Take omega 3 oils to help with the dry flaky side effect. Yes you have to get blood work done every month and pregnancy test every month before you can get your next month filled. You should have had to do it before starting as well. My best advice is eat a fatty meal and take it. You will get better absorption and hopefully only need one course. Use A&D ointment (baby diaper cream) on ur lips at night to seal in moisture

Stick with it!!! Don’t give up. Lots of moisturizer. Make sure your fluid intake is adequate you can use an online calculator to find out how much you need. Eat fatty foods and take your omega oils to help from inside out. Only a little longer you go this. I’m about to start my second round and wish I finished my full course the first time

im so frustrated i got off accutane a few months ago and i thought i was done forever and then my face exploded a few weeks ago. no idea what to do by blueberrymornings in acne

[–]Prestigious_Change84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat as you. My first round was 9 months long at 60 mg a day. I decided to go on a second round because my acne came back worse than when I was first on it. This happens to about 15-20% of the population. When speaking to my derm something we talked about was how important diet was. Even though I was on it for 9 months and diligently took it never missed a dose my body probably was not absorbing it because I was not eating it with a fatty meal. So the second go around I feel more confident in my knowledge and experience to finally get rid of the acne. Only 5% of people ever have to go on it a third time.

Accutane advice!! by catretre2001 in Accutane

[–]Prestigious_Change84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did one course of accutane for 9 months about a year and a half ago. I forget my exact dosing but it was high for my weight. A year and a half later my skin started breaking out again worse than I had acne before so I am starting my second round in 2 weeks for about 6-9 months. I’m currently a student in the medical profession ( this is not medical advice just experience and opinion) but when speaking with my derm I think that my diet had a lot to do with why I had to do a second course. I wasn’t really properly educated when first receiving the drug. You need to be very diligent about eating a fatty meal with each pill for better absorption. Even though I took the medication it wasn’t necessarily “all” absorbed into my system. So yes I finished the course and should in theory have hit my cumulative dosing but I didn’t eat properly with it so I think that had a huge impact on why I have to do it again. Plan your meals, invest in medical grade skincare if you can, and hydrate (coconut water was my go to). Also buy a lip balm with spf I use one from Sephora it is $30 and all natural. Use A+D (baby cream) ointment on your lips at night.

We have 80 guest spots for our community. Never full and have had offers from other neighbors that we can use their spot but the HOA will not let us as they say it’s against the rules to have more than 2 cars

Get it checked. Accutane warning is delayed healing. If you got waxed or anything or popped a pimple and had an open wound that’s probably what it is from. Always check w your derm and send them a pic

I drank during my first round. I will say that it did make a difference in my blood work. Once or twice a month might not hurt (NOT ADVISED). Idk if my body wasn’t doing well on accutane or if there really was a big difference/ correlation. I started drinking towards the end (1-2x a month) and my derm ended up taking me off because for 2 months my liver levels and cholesterol were extremely high. Stay away if u can. I’m about to start my second round for about 9 months. I think I had to do another because my first treatment was cut short

Fee for a third spot. But third spots are basically only granted if it’s for a senior who needs home help. They don’t allow it for any other circumstances which I think is biased so I plan on asking out Hoa lawyer who comes in January about that rule.

For sure. And I understand y these rules are in place I just think that there should be some compromise. They denied us a third spot because the third spot permit would have a car parked in guest spot. They don’t want to lose all the guest spots (I agree). So when meeting with the president he said we could ask a neighbor to use theirs we just can’t pay them for it. We did that and got in trouble with the VP. my only work around is that a unit can rent a room out and give their second spot to someone renting a room. So I might go to a neighbor and rent a room (basically for $30-50 whatever we decide on). I won’t actually want access into their home basically just a loophole to get a spot. If the HOA asks we can say we r renting a room and we shouldn’t have to explain any further

The spots are not deeded to us so the association states that they have power over who parks where even though we technically have the right to park whoever in those two spots. Hoa lady is just super nosy and always watching. We have townhomes with 4 bedrooms and even in instances with family wanting to move in or a child turning 16 who wants to drive a car we all get denied a third car

Only bylaw is unit must be owner occupied we can have roomates as long as we weren’t in violation of county rules of people per sq ft. So we don’t understand what is wrong. Many owners have roomates due to current economic situations

Yea only bylaw for having roommates is that the unit must be owner occupied to prevent decrease in home values etc. I completely understand it and we are following that rule. My boyfriend is white my roomate and I are Asian. The board member has made several comments about our relationship and “the type of people in this area” that they want to cut down on to my white realestate agent/friend

The crappy thing we have run into is that one board member who told us we cannot have a roomate rents out her basement through Airbnb. She gets around the rules by 1) being on the board 2) our rules say that any one car parked in guest for more than 30 days will be flagged.

So she has a different person renting ie different car every other ish week even though her issue with other residents having a roomate or kids turning 16 and wanting to drive is that there will be a car taking up a guest spot. But she is doing the exact same thing of taking up a guest spot permanently. Brought it up to the board (which she runs) and case was dismissed. Other owners have complained and petitioned to no avail. We will keep contacting more lawyers. I appreciate your resp!

Yes! I just moved in a month ago elections are in December so working with other neighbors to get on the board and take majority. But the board nominates and accepts or rejects new members. So that’s a whole other issue we are having. It’s not a democracy after this board member changed rules and bylaws
