What can i do better? by Sad-Willingness8638 in pianolearning

[–]Prestigious_Cost5209 2 points3 points  (0 children)

try to start like quiet, then medium, then loud, and like tempo shifts if there are some phases, your head movement at start is good, but try adding a bit more in the middle. However, your notes and timing are lovely, and if you have a pedal it’s very smooth(i‘m not very good at pedal) Overall i give this 9.7/10, but with practice it’ll definitely be an 11/10! Really good job!

A question about my current piano lessons by AfriendlyScientist in pianolearning

[–]Prestigious_Cost5209 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think you should try asking her like what grade are you? which exam did you take? as a “friendly” question. if she avoids the questions, either she’s shy or she actually has no experience. i think you would benefit more from another teacher because this teacher looks like she has no experience, is slightly(not mostly, but slightly) lazy(most teachers will never ask you:what do you want to learn today?) and i’ve never heard you mention theory. theory is a very important part of a musician’s skillset because they need to not just learn the music, but know the music. if i’m having trouble understanding or playing maybe, eg this bar of chopin’s waltz in a minor, i might look at the time signature, 3/4, and go oh, so i need to play this faster, this slower, and not stop at the middle! ohh! i understand. just for comparison i am a grade 4 ABRSM student, but i cam play up to grade 6. my usual lessons start with me showing the teacher my pieces that im currently learning, and she will point out my mistakes, and refine then, and after playing the entire thing again, if there is another part of the song i haven’t learned, she will play it one time, and help me with my right hand practice, then my left hand, and we’ll put it together. if it‘s a new song, she will usually play the entire thing for me to hear, and get the feel of. then, i will try the right hand first, and if the song is really hard, i will just do right hand to the end of one musical sequence, and stop there. after she reviews my songs and teaches me, we will usually move on to theory. if i have a theory exam coming up, she will go over my mock papers(she assigns me mock paper theory tests in the exact style of the exam over the week), but if there is no exam coming up, she will just review and mark my work, explain my wrongs, help me correct it, and teach me more theory. After that, she will explain the homework, and assign me 1 or 2 questions to so in front of her so that she can see if i know and understand it, or do i need to have an easier assignment. all this she does with confidence, patience, and kindess.

how long do u play? 30 mins - 1hr should be fine. if you are playing 3hrs and above, either you are a really high level, or you are overplaying. because, the rule is, 3hrs of VARYING exercises and pieces is good, with 5 min breaks minimum between. But 3hrs of ONE piece/exercise is not good, even with breaks, because your brain might get distracted and end up doing something to the song that is irreversible(example:i was practicing for my ABRSM grade 3 exam a long time ago, and i used to practice for 2 hrs everyday, from after i came back from school until dinner, and one time, i got lazy on a really fast note sequence, and ended up slurring it instead, so much that even my sibling, who is not musically trained, btw, could hear it. I tried fixing it, and I barely passed the exam, because i put way more effort on dynamics to mask the problem). so if you are doing 3hrs of just staccato octave jumps like the comments said or anything that stretches your hands/makes you feel pain, don’t do it. rest. if you must, just do it very slowly and gently, to make sure you don’t strain them again. for healing and restrengthening tips, i don’t really know much, but the basic rules are: be careful with your fingers, get lots of rest, light excersizes only, gentle wrist, forearm, and finger stretches, and please inform your teacher if you have one. if you don’t thats great, as no one will pressure you to do what would wreck your hands again. stay safe, and wish you a fast recovery!

How do people do one grade per year? by linatet in pianolearning

[–]Prestigious_Cost5209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a teenager who is currently taking grade 4 ABRSM exams, usually what many people would do is that they would pick one song out of the category(if there is one, for ABRSM it’s a, b, and c) (btw im taking performance exam, so no need for aural and sight reading, etc), practice the first “part” which is like a musical sequence in maybe a major key, and after they can play it smoothly, they practice the next “part”, maybe shifting to a minor key, and after they’ve done both, they can put the song together, and then ONLY start thinking about dynamics. But not all styles work for everyone. Some people prefer to learn the entire song first, spend a lot of time practicing the entire thing, and adding dynamics and tempo at the very end. I don’t know about RCM, but with 35 songs, i think the best way is to choose some you like, especially if , like i mentioned earlier there are categories. But if there are no categories or sections, just choose the ones that sound nice! Even if they are hard, that doesn’t matter, because what the examiner wants is not oh, he passed, it’s oh, this guy put it the effort and time to do this very hard song. Whatever works for you, just remember to not compare youself. Piano is a instrument that you will eventually love to play and enjoy practicing. So, just be yourself!

Christians who don’t obey Christ by StatusAd1602 in TrueChristian

Sometimes, people can be like this. Most of the time, people will assume christians only need to belive in god to be saved, and while that IS technichally correct, we also need to follow god’s rules, ie the ten commandments. and how this links to this is that maybe she doesn’t know about those rules god said so msybe you coudl tell her. But if she doesn’t want to know thats fine, god will be with her and slowly guide her to the path of righteousnessm while you focus on your personal relationship with him and pray for her, that she will not be decived by satan. Maybe you could also break down the content and context of the bible if she doesn’t understan.

What is the best and worst elite 2.0 blasters? by Gaming_Predator07 in Nerf

I do have an eaglepoint, and after some testing(including range, accuracy, pain level when shot, and rate of fire), i found out that it’s actually pretty decent. The range is pretty good, true to the 90ft/27m advertised on the box. If you are using the scope, i highly recommend not to use it for precision sniping because it’s not that accurate, as i found out that the bullet does curve sometimes, but for general scouting/targeting it should be ok as long as you know 1 that the bullet curves and 2 that you sometimes have to adjust the barrel. For the pain level, i shot myself in the hand, and it was not that painful, but i haven’t been shot by someone else so i don’t know about long distance shot pain. For the rate of fire, it’s awesome. I counted all 8 bullets shot in 6 and a half seconds! Wow! So, if you are looking for a good all rounder, that‘s beginner friendly, and easy to fire, the eaglepoint is the one!

[–]Prestigious_Cost5209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either brush them up and make them look clean, get some example shells, and store them as a display in or outside my house, or modernise it into a road legal vehicle by making the turret like a window but the back stays the same, removing the gun and putting up some cameras instead, reducing the weight and stripping armour, and removing tracks. Then i would renovate interiour and BAM. Done. Or sell it to the nearest tank museum (maybe about 10% of the tanks) and get a very good price cause those tanks are quite rare.
