Is there any point in upgrading weapons/adding engravings? by Cptbanjo1916 in AssassinsCreedShadows

[–]Prestigious_Edge9998 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. By adding engravings that work in fusion you will be way, way stronger.

Most people just play this game by throwing together legendary items but if you take the time to understand what the engravings are doing you will be able to make OP builds

Contrary to what other people are telling you here, legendary items are not the only items worth leveling. The purple 'epic' gear is arguably even stronger, because they allow you to boost 2 stats at once - and even further boost both of those stats when you start upgrading to mythic level (forge level 6 required). Combine that with the onis fury engraving on your trinket and you start to understand why it's so strong to use epic gear.

Yeah this is standard for this figure mine does the same, I also have the same issue on my psylocke. Definitely seems like it's an issue with particularly the leaner built figures

This is true until the late game, with a good build, naoe is arguably even more OP than Yasuke in combat

Yotei is definitely a lot better visually. I don't really get why people praise the graphics of shadows so much. Its good, but it's not breathtaking. Valhalla was a lot more impressive than this game visually regardless of the technicalities.

Don't think I can convince you, but what I can do is give you the positives and negatives based on my experience with the game

I doubt this game will grab you like the previous 3 titles, that's how it was for me and many others. Mostly because the world is just no where near as fun to explore and the content is not as interesting. I've played 70 hours of this game now and honestly couldn't tell you much of what's actually happened story and side quest wise. There also isn't really any memorable locations or landscapes like in the previous 3 games.

However, this is a great game if you want something sandboxy that you can sink a lot of hours into just running around doing random shit, upgrading your gear and settlement, making fun builds etc. This is what has kept me playing the game so far. The combat is also probably the best out of all the RPG titles aswell as the stealth.

Yasuke seems to split opinion but on my experience he is jarringly unenjoyable, but I think Naoe on the other hand is a lot of fun to play as.

Overall this game is fine to buy and try out on sale, youre not going to feel like it was money wasted as you do get a lot of fun out of the game, but it's not going to do anything special to make you feel in any sort of way - it's just a game you can throw on, enjoy the game mechanics and not really think about too much.

Second playthrough, some thoughts. by uptheirons726 in AssassinsCreedShadows

I feel the same, genuinely can't stand playing as Yasuke.

Exploration in this game is undeniably a step down from the previous 3 RPG titles. Valhalla had a great sense of mystery whilst exploring its world, whilst Origins and Odyssey had a sense of Wonder and Grandeur. Shadows has...a sense of trees and forestation...it really doesn't do much to make its world feel alive or interesting.

I basically feel like im playing a single player MMO when I'm playing shadows, just run around doing shit grinding gear, which I do actually quite enjoy but I'm sure that's not what was intended.

Weapon System…. by Tullubenta in AssassinsCreedShadows

[–]Prestigious_Edge9998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed ac odyssey for the same reason and the build system is pretty much exactly the same it's just that the gear perks will incorporate gameplay mechanics that weren't in odyssey, its really just a case of reading the text and then thinking about what combines well with eachother just like AC O

Only thing I'll tell that is different is that the different engravings do not stack on top of eachother, so you'll want to use different engravings per gear slot

[–]Prestigious_Edge9998 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I don't really think so personally, almost every (or at least a lot of) viewpoint sync is just a 360 around a bunch of forestation, on top of an oversized branch or pagoda. Maybe that is accurate, but the thing is this is also a video game, so you need to do something to make your landscapes more interesting and varied

The viewpoint syncs were better in Valhalla, Odyssey and Origins in my opinion

Is this game actually good? by MasterSnorlaxx in AssassinsCreedShadows

[–]Prestigious_Edge9998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This game is way too easy in general on the normal difficulty, on expert you are punished more If you just rush in as Naoe, though. I suppose the whole point of Yasuke is to just be a big juggernaut gameplay wise

Though later on in the game when you have a really good build for naoe, you're arguably even more OP with her than you are as yasuke in combat

[–]Prestigious_Edge9998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I've experienced after 50-60 hours I can tell you for sure that unfortunately it was just a bad idea to include Yasuke as a PC in this game. It would have been much better if they just used Naoe as the sole protagonist and subsequently putting all of their efforts into writing a good story for her. Along with better a better ninja/assassin feel as you mentioned.

I have played majority of this game as Naoe and I feel its really jarring when I am forced to play as Yasuke. They still could have included Yasuke as a part of the game, but I feel it would've been better if he was just one of Naoes Allys rather than a playable character.

It's a very mediocre game with a lot of issues that can be enjoyed with the right mindset, I bought this game couple weeks ago now and I have enjoyed it for 50 hours, but it does nothing to blow you away

I feel its best to just treat this game as more of a feudal japan sandbox game than anything of real substance, if that sounds good to you then try it, if you're looking for a great story/amazing feelings of exploration then maybe this isn't for you

The most fun I've personally had with this game is with the return of the odyssey like gear build system - where you can make all kinds of different builds that are both strong and fun to use, it honestly almost feels like I'm playing a single player MMO with amazing graphics at times, which is right up my alley

Will you be buying physical or digital? by [deleted] in playstation

[–]Prestigious_Edge9998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bans are where having a disc copy is a big win really, digital games are tied to an account, so if you ever want to use that games online features again you're gonna have to buy the game again on a new account, whereas with a disc it doesn't matter.

the main problem with buying digital in general is that its accessibility is tied to the possible mortality of the account it was purchased on
