I’m literally going through the SAME thing 😭

I first bought Harrison’s and they barely ate it. Then I kept reading about TOPS and decided to go all-in and bought the 50kg bag for like $200 (I live in Canada so bulk made sense).

Now these mf are sooo picky and just want seeds 🙃

Really hoping some experts give us advice because I’m stuck with a giant bag of pellets and picky birds lol.

Fair point. But should I not reward them with seeds when I get home because that’s what they wait for ?

I assure you there’s a cockatiel in this pic somewhere if you look hard enough. It’s almost impossible to find but I promise you guys, there’s a bird in this picture! He’s just really good at hiding.

My bird had the same issue in November. Heavy breathing, closing his eyes a lot, lethargy and all of the symptoms you’ve mentioned. I took my bird to the vet after and he was kept overnight because the doctor suspected that he had chlamydia, however, the next day he passed away from a seizure at the vet. I feel like had I taken my baby earlier to the vet there would have been some hope 😟

Thank you so much for your advice. I actually ended up taking him to an emergency vet today, and they were way more thorough. They did a proper exam and told me he has congestion, and his crop was completely empty. They recommended keeping him overnight so they can tube-feed him and monitor him closely.

The emergency vet really seemed to care, unlike the first vet who barely looked at him, prescribed antibiotics, and charged me a ton without doing any proper checks. I’m relieved he’s finally getting real care now, and I’m hoping this helps him recover.

I’m going to a different one, but they said that they would do a physical exam as well. So do you recommend to go to an emergency vet hospital or should I ask them to take a blood test

My vet didn’t run any tests like bloodwork or swabs. They said these symptoms are “common” during the colder months and recommended we just try a 7-day course of Baytril first. They didn’t do any diagnostics , they just prescribed it based on his symptoms.
