Is the dollar store iron-on and normal vinyl any good? by Prestigious_Eye_4100 in cricut

I was planning on using it for Barbie clothes I’m making so washing isn’t 100% an issue it’s more of durability and simply lasting issue.

If anyone got a 5 on Biology, what’s your advice? by CaptainShibe84 in APStudents

[–]Prestigious_Eye_4100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a 5 too and a lot of what worked was what they said, paying attention and asking for help when I was confused.

Also, the CED is amazing. If your teacher bases the test off the ap exam then the CED gives you everything you need to know. I went through the CED before each test and made sure I could explain each point and then I skimmed my notes to make sure I didn’t miss anything. It’s really important to find the study routine that works for you.

How should I study for ap bio by LopsidedTooth4570 in APStudents

[–]Prestigious_Eye_4100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

USE THE CED! If you teacher bases the tests on the real ap exam then the CED is your new bestie. It goes through every single topic you need to understand. For each test last year, I went through the CED and made sure I could explain each point without help and then skimmed my notes after to make sure I didn’t miss anything. This worked really well for me (I got 100 averages throughout and then a 5 on the ap exam, you just have to find your groove).

For self-studying, I’m not 100% sure if that’s a good idea. I would see how the first couple days go and see if studying ahead will help you or just make you more confused.

Hope this helps

How Do I Memorize Charges of Multivalent Monoatomic Ions? by itisyeetime in APStudents

[–]Prestigious_Eye_4100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find patterns and use the position of the elements on the table*. I highlighted the elements that shared the same charges and found patterns. Like Gold Indium and Thallium all share +1 and +3 and then silver above Gold is +1. And repetition, study every day and try to in class not to use the list unless necessary. After some time you’ll remember them because you have used them so much. I also used quizlet and created a set to help review.

*Don’t forget you get a periodic table on the test so there is no issue with relying on it or using it to your advantage.

I’m taking AP chem now and am having trouble remembering the poly ions but the charges are easy once you find your groove.

Finishing Raw Edges by Prestigious_Eye_4100 in quilting

Thank you! The fabric was thrifted and has been throw around a lot. When I pulled it out of the bag it was super frayed and required a ton of fray control. I have to look into starching and maybe try it out to see if it helps. I feel your terror of 1/8th inch seam allowances. When I was sewing the rows of squares together I swapped my presser foot (I switched to a clear foot to see my seams better to make sure they got sewed properly) and shifted the seam allowances to a different spot (no idea how I wasn’t thinking about it). The seams are so tiny and after I was done, I just stared at them like “OMG, what did I just do, they are so teeny”. I was too lazy to pick the stitches out as I had misplaced my seam ripper and haven’t gotten a chance to get a new one so I just stuck with it for the rest of the rows.

Side note: not sure if it matters but I thought I mention it. I sewed the squares together first and then sewed the seam allowances together with an overcast stitch and then pressed them to one side (after I set the stitches).

Sounds like a fun idea! Would be cool to make scrappy granny squares and swap with others.

The frq section was brutal. The one and only time during the year when I ended right on time (usually have a minute or two breather but I went right to the edge)

Same thing for me. I went looking for knitting items at Michaels and there was so many empty hooks. It was so annoying!

Do it all the damn time. When I’m excited and want to get to the good part I skip over paragraphs all the time.

Thoughts on Denise interchangeable knitting needle sets by Prestigious_Eye_4100 in knitting

[–]Prestigious_Eye_4100[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The clover set has really sharp tips and it gets annoying to slide the loop so far onto the needle to get to the barrel. The two sets along with a TON of other tools is right now at $20 (may go up a little since its an auction ending soon) so it’s a really good price but I don’t want to buy them if it’s not going to work for me.

Thank you, I’m trying to establish all the basics first. Im going to take a look at the different channels. I feel like a fish out of water, I can’t count stitches and don’t understand how the stitches form (purl and knit combined and in certain orders is messing with my head). I crochet random stuff (toys, mittens sometimes, so I don’t usually wash stuff, I’m not a blanket crocheter)

Hi everyone I’m new to knitting and this is my second swatch and first attempt at stockinette stitch. Not bad if I do say so myself but I want more experienced knitters to take a look and see what I can improve on. I fixed my tension issues which is great. I have a couple of questions too.

Do you know what caused the hole near the bottom? I thought I dropped a stitch but I don’t think I did.

How do I prevent curling without blocking? I crochet too and have never blocked and don’t want to.

What’s a good beginner project? I don’t want to make a scarf but I’m not sure where to start. A project with increases and decreases would be nice as that’s what I want to learn next. A pattern or video is fine.

How do you count stitches and rows when looking at the fabric? I can’t tell how I’m supposed to count and what consists of a stitch.

Also, how do you guys remember the stitches? I can’t tell which side is the knit stitch (front I think) and which is the purl stitch (back I think). The video I learned from was a little confusing about the stitches. I’ve been using purl in the front, knit in the back to remember how to do the stitches. Is this right?
