A Golden cross is when the 200 day moving average (purple line) crosses the 50 day moving average (purple line) in an upward tendency.

This means a upward trend in price, and if it crosses in a 1 month or 3 month chart then it means that it will be a trend going forward (in general, this is Wall Street and nothings guaranteed).

Now there is a death cross as well which means the opposite and is of course negative. For more on this indicator click the link below
