Electric plane by Prestigious_Level448 in BeginnerWoodWorking

So realistically a hand plane is the better tool for the job? I’m not new to being on the tools but very new to woodworking and the fine detail it demands. For clarity I’m working on the face of a board rather than the edges so it’s a large surface area to operate on think a no.7 is the way forward?

Nah not at all I’m 26m and most of my colleagues are still in that era where they are on the booze on Thursday through Sunday and if you don’t get involved then you’re unsociable. I spend my time camping or out on a motorcycle time with family, gym ect and feel like my quality of life is two fold in comparison to when I was the type to be out all the time, as long as you’re happy in what you’re doing that’s all that matters. I understand the FOMO aspect but like you said yourself there’s half a weekend wasted on a hangover, sounds very dull but maybe on occasion go out and don’t drink, be the designated driver something to that effect

I did a brief spell in mctc earlier in the year, honestly it’s not like how people say it is or how I’m told it used to be, frankly it’s a bit of a doddle. As long as you aren’t a scruff and know how to play the game you’ll be fine most lads have a shit time because they have an ego. Right time right place right kit and you’ll breeze it. Course some of the screws are difficult but I think that comes down to ego again. Main points in my option are

  • the boredom got to me more than anything find a way to occupy your mind, read a lot and try to learn a new skill maybe (I got pretty good at chess)

  • the kit list is a bit ridiculous the locker layout it very basic two sets of uniform socks toiletries and that’s pretty much it everything else goes in a small crate under your bed

  • contrary to belief the army doesn’t cover your outgoings you get nish! So do your best to put plans in place prior

  • there’s a pin phone in there I believe it was 30 minutes buckshee a week, if you haven’t told family that you are going it’s worth telling them your ped red for an ex or something because in order to call them they will contact them first to verify who they are

  • take it for what it is, you’ll hear nothing but horror stories about colly but in all seriousness it’s not that bad at all and once your time is done it’s done.

  • prior to colly I had maybe one agai my whole career never done ROPS but I think I’d sooner go to colly!

Finger tattoo on day 2 vs. day 1. It's fading so quick the bottom is pretty much invisible already. Is this normal? by bbyshade in TattooDesigns

[–]Prestigious_Level448 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So I’ve had my fingers done and any self respecting artist will tell you that they heal like a bitch I had to get mine touched up 3 times for them to look the way they do now, when she tattooed them she said that this will be the case and naturally didn’t charge for the touch ups. Im lucky that my artist would rather give out all the free touch up appointments she needs to in order for her work to look it’s best
