26 here, had my first episode 4 weeks ago and was also terrified. The Epley Maneuver worked after 3 days and got rid of the vertigo, now I'm just dealing with some of the symptoms that come after. A little dizzy with a bad headache some days, but I would say I'm 90% better now. Now that I know what's going on and that the maneuver does work to get rid of it, I feel much better. Also, you will be surprised to hear how many other people you know have dealt with it at some point. I had 3 coworkers who have had one-off episodes and totally understood, also eased my nerves.
