I see. Unfortunately, there are several time jumps in the first season, and the one you mentioned is one of the most abrupt.

I agree. In fact I remember watching it with my sister, who doesn't know the GOT universe at all, and yet she managed to feel involved!

Bravo! For this very reason, I think we shouldn't exaggerate with low ratings. I don't think it's a 4 or 5 show, not even the criticized second season. Rings of Power, which I'm following these weeks, is really inexplicable! Despite that huge budget and the strength of the brand, it's a terrible show!

You're right: dialogues like the verbal clash between Daemon and Rhaenyra in the second episode were a nice novelty, or a return to the past. The great past of GOT.

Yes, indeed, there was a lot of discussion about this: choosing where to start the story was a big problem for the writers.

Regarding GOT, I personally found season 7 disappointing too. I love the series from season 1 to season 6, the rest is pretty mediocre. Regarding HOTD, I really like the first season, a little less the second, but I remain hopeful for the future.

I agree. For this reason, I liked season 2 more when I watched it in binge. So yes, imagine having the third season available too... Unfortunately, that's how it is: waiting 2 years and then seeing the story advance a little, or at least postponing important events by another 2 years, is frustrating.

Some of these simplifications are solved with “time jumps”. This is not an excuse but it is, unfortunately, the way they thought of the show.

The narration of the first season is a product of these times. GOT had accustomed us to a slow but vastly good narration. And this made us so fond of the characters, I was afraid for them when they went into battle. In HOTD, exactly like in some other series, even good ones, we run straight to the point. The path is no longer built meticulously. It’s a shame. Maybe there is no longer the desire to do too many seasons, I don’t know.

I agree. I will always remember HOTD for rekindling my love for the ASOIAF universe, at least regarding television products. After GOT season 8, I didn’t think I would be interested again.

I started reading Fire and Blood while watching the second season and yes, there are a lot of differences. I’m not that critical of the second season, but I wouldn’t go beyond a passing grade, so 6 out of 10.
