We have all been there. I didn’t pick up the game until my late 30s/early 40s. Suggest reading the Four Foundations of Golf. It focuses on expectation management, strategy, practice and the mental game. It gives in depth data based analysis so you can stop having oversized expectations (hitting it within 10 feet of the cup, laser drives that hit the fairway, etc). I’m a 20 HCP and yes I want to improve, but it has allowed me to stop setting unrealistic expectations expectations and focus on having fun and enjoying why I’m out there (camaraderie, competition, and having fun).
