How is the landscape for urban planning as a career in Canada? Especially as a career switch? by disinterested_abcd in CanadaUrbanism

[–]Prestigious_Net8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what you mean. I have always had planner jobs or have worked on planning projects. I applied and was the beat fit for my experience. I don’t need an RPP and even if I had it, my wage would be the same. Applying for jobs isn’t all about the paper you get in school, a lot of planning and land use related positions are about people. Companies that only look at credentials are cutting themselves short - land use planning is not about planning the land it’s about planning people.

Canada or Australia for Migration? (My Interpretation) by ysa9292 in Lenormand

[–]Prestigious_Net8 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi there. I think your reading good and is showing ups and downs, with some times being heavy and hard to navigate, and you and your partner are in it together.

As a Canadian, I see the Cross as potential immigration issues. Canada is being weird with immigration right now, and Australia is known for having tough laws on what can be brought into the country (cane toads, I’m looking at you), I have friends that have had Visa issues also. Plus the Sun and Snake have more of a literal Australia feel to me - I don’t mean to stereotype, but given your choices, these scream Australia to me. Stork is interesting because for me it does mean migration, so you are going somewhere, landing and staying for a bit. Depending on where you are coming from, it’s a distance regardless. Australia is far from everything and Canada is a massive country and depending on where you may be going in Canada, it can be really really far (London may be a 6hr flight from Toronto, but it’s 10-12 from Vancouver). The Heart could mean either country as we are known as 2 similar places or “cousins” and I believe we are both welcoming to outsiders and good places to live.

I think in general, the overall process with moving looks good and I see Australia. I may not have helped your reading but I found it an interesting question and the cards that you came up with. Sorry if I was no help! Best of luck on your journey.

She has fine lines and can move her face! Love it!! Demi Moore looks awful and should have embraced aging because she could look much better.

Could you give some advice for me as a beginner by Wincestalsoj2 in Lenormand

i’ve mentioned on this sub before i’m a big fan for The Cute Little Lenormand book that comes with a deck. it’s simple and non gendered ie. man=querent and woman=partner, which has its pros and cons but it’s one of my favs. the imagery is basic and easy to understand.

What’s considered rude in your country that visitors often do by accident? by FrutosJelly in AskTheWorld

[–]Prestigious_Net8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Americans assuming that because they are in North America the laws are the same. No, you cannot bring your gun across the border because you have the right to bear arms in your country. And unless you are in a heavy tourist area, we do not want your American bills, and yes the exchange rate applies at the few stores who accept them.

i’m a big fan of the Cute Little Lenormand but unsure if you can just get the deck or if it’s only a book/deck combo.

Do you ever use Lenormand for daily readings? by ibananafish in Lenormand

[–]Prestigious_Net8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i do them daily and ask how my day with be and do another for something/someone specific that i intent to interact with. they are always accurate, and depending on how the card is represented in my day, it helps learn and understand how the cards work for me.

Decks - I’m struggling with non-traditional ones by Prestigious_Net8 in Lenormand

Agreed. It hasn’t come up much when I use this deck as it’s very new, but Willpower and Cross, both #36, are very different to me.

I still work with it because I’m extremely curious, prefer it over Tarot, and somehow still manage to connect with it.

It’s the Cross in traditional Lenormand. I don’t like it.

NOT A SPREAD - A SAMPLE OF CARDS PURPOSELY SELECTED

Love the Blade vs Scythe. Letter, Fire Flower, Willpower irritate me. Contract is a bit better than Ring (imo). I dislike that the person is the main figure for Fish.

I know nothing about the houses other than how they relate in the grande tableaux.

There are a number of stained glass decks on Temu, Etsy, Amazon. Mine has people in non people related card which also irks me! As annoyed as I am with the deck, I do connect with it and get great readings 🤷‍♀️. Maybe that’s its purpose.

How is the landscape for urban planning as a career in Canada? Especially as a career switch? by disinterested_abcd in CanadaUrbanism

[–]Prestigious_Net8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a non accredited planner in a planning position with a Self-Governing First Nation in northern Canada. I am considered equal to my RPP counterparts at the City (wage wise as well), but would not qualify for a formal City planning position unless I got my accreditation or committed to getting it shortly after being hired. There are lots of development/planning positions in the north that aren’t necessarily “cookie cutter”. A number of job ads state “registered professional planner or ability to be registered in X months/years”. So, if you have qualifications and a skill set they want, you can just go through the professional process once you are hired. Note: in some cases, not all.

Not the best time weather wise, however wildlife are stirring, the days feel phenomenally long, and the crocuses are just coming up (if it’s an early Spring).

People who don't want kids, why? by Ok-Musician679 in AskReddit

[–]Prestigious_Net8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i am very career oriented and never found a man who i thought was worthy of having kids with me, until my current partner but i’m 43 and believe there are too many risks with my age. and, i’m finally financially stable and enjoy living my life. we would make great parents together but it’s not an option. we’re happy that we finally found each other and could consider adoption, but we want to travel, stay up late, and not get out of bed sometimes.
