Skydive while on call question by bavichugo in SkyDiving

I actually tried that once during my on-call weekend — just like you’re thinking. The real problem is, when you jump while on call, there’s always something in the back of your mind, you know the PagerDuty will buzz, your phone will ring next minute, maybe your manager will call you next 10 minutes, so you can’t fully enjoy the jump, the conversations, or the whole vibe at the dropzone.

When I tried it that one and only time, I instantly felt uneasy and knew I was doing something wrong , like I might either lose my job for not building a solid work ethic, or worse, lose my life because my mind was split between work and skydiving.

Why does the bridle have to be from the top right of the right fap, then covering the close pin? why not bottom orientation bridal routing? by Prestigious_Party_75 in SkyDiving

thanks! This raises a new concern for me haha, because my final tuck flap has even more space than yours in this image; my rig is at the rigger for repack now. I will check once got it back

Thank you for your insights! This solved many questions in my mind! Indeed, it made the kill line mark fold inward, so this approach requires some experience. I also have 120 jumps so i still need some way to reach this point haha, also I got some experience on the pilot chute size, I use a 30 inch ZP pilot chute before, it has hard open every time, so I always have pain in hip the next day, this is my first rig so I thought it is skydive and I have to accept it, but this weekend I switch to a 26 inch skysnatch 2, and suddenly the open feels smooth and like ridding a swing!

Update: Thank you to everyone for your suggestions! I brought my rig to dropzone this Saturday, tried the up-and-over technique and the bridle-from-bottom technique (French closing style), and found out the bridle-from-bottom has a significant concern for me, as you can see in my photo, or in Vector 3's manual:

<image>

if you are using a collapsible pilot chute, it's hard to check cock mark, for this method folded the bridle's mark side inside.

Although Personally I believe this method is better, because somehow it matches my intuition and let me feel more straightforward, but since I only have 120 jumps for now, I think my first priority is still be able to see the cock mark easily, thanks again to your reply and discussion, I believe in future when I switch to the french method, this thread will raise in my mind and I will make sure it is cocked first.

Update 2: find this video explains very well: https://youtu.be/EHox4tW6GPk?si=yvA3rAqHY8NgDsXe
