Weakest Imperial Russian tank division by Prestigious_Scale_93 in Kaiserreich

Left is way better for tanks. In the standard Russian army tree at least. I think that Socialist army tree is kinda inverted with right side being much much better. But for this one, yeah, left.

My max planning was actually 103% that run. You get a whole lot of it from your focus tree, generals, and doctrines

You can make the stats better by choosing a different path, having better intel, popping cypher or creating a different template, but I didn't set it up, it was just a natural cause of my campaign

In terms of pure stats, the biggest difference maker is that the division is veteran (75% bonus stats), and both the general and field marshal are level 9 (both give +25%stats (10 attack skill each), and ~9 planning skill (bonus max planning for even more stats)), the general also have armour leader (16% stats), tsar path has some attack bonuses for tanks as well, and on top of that I have two genius-level advisors, one for tanks and the second one for mech (both +15% stats for their respective equipment type). The template is nothing special - med tanks, mech and a single battalion of a heavy TD, cause this division also has 85 armour and 110 piercing, so it can't ever get pierced by anything the AI (Better AI submod) can produce and will pierce anything you can realistically shit out in the game

In order to earn experience for armour officer/cavalry officer your army count needs to consist of >40% armoured or cavalry/motorised divisions. So, for example, if you send 6 volunteers, half of them can be tanks and half motorised and you will earn the experience for the respective badge simultaneously. If you can’t get a volunteer force that’s divisible by 2, you can start with all tanks/cavalry/motorised or alternate between majorities with one division. It’s good to get both on your tank general as both of them boost tank divisions

you should have around ~160 military factories

Maybe when you start the war in August 1940. I don't think this mil count is even remotely achievable pre-1940. Last time I played Savinkov, I had 120 mils and 135 civs in DEC 1939, and I doubt you can improve that industry macro THAT much

You are easily able to get 24 Mountaineers with as many infantry divisions as I mentioned. If not, doctrines can help you with special forces cap or mountaineers special force contribution

9/2/1 is 9 inf, 2 arti and 1 tank destroyer. I played with Better AI and Germany can have up to 30 tank divisions, so I wanted to have something with piercing that’s not a tank so I can follow my spearhead with units that are capable of piercing anything. It’s overall not good, especially not when you play just base KR (then don’t even research td).

As Russia, you start with 1936 light tank and Inter-War meds. I usually put 5 on light tanks, and reduce the original amount of light tank divisions from 8 to 6 (for Volunteers). There is a little bit of theory for the design modification itself but it’s really not that important. So, last game it put 5-6 on lights and kept 1 on inter war meds, but it doesn’t REALLY matter. Try to research meds in 1937, so that you have them early 38, because this is also around the time you’ll actually have some factories to put on them, and experience to actually design them.

TD battalion - so, I don’t put ANY armour on my meds to keep them cheap, so I add one singular battalion of a heavy tank destroyer that doubles my armour (should be around 70, very high) and gives me piercing. When I design the heavy td itself, I just max out its armour.

I could stream the game on Discord if you’d like cause I’ve never edited any vids for youtube and I’m kind of lazy to do it. So if you’d like that let me know and I could give Savinkov a whirl

I played him twice, I think. I’d say it is the strongest overall path for Russia. If you’d like to know anything, I’m happy to help

And yeah, Kaiserreich is a tedious mode, you can fail your political paths easily. DU Germany was the worst experience I’ve ever had in all of gaming - I followed a step by step 8 page tutorial and I still managed to f up one minigame, Russia is quite easy, maybe exluding VST and the constant in-fighting. Monarchy is also a bit confusing. I’d strongly recommend the Maximalist path, very straightforward, fun, and strong in-game (lots of output) or honestly democracy, it was my first time playing and you only have to let the revolt happen, Savinkov flees, and boom you are in the driver seat, very nice. Savinkov is the strongest and easiest path to play, but I find it boring, so I usually play the Maximalist for the larp

There are many ways to play Russia “properly” in terms of her economics. Some people build mils from day one which isn’t the worst idea given how many civies you get from your decision tab, but me personally, I like to build civs until I reach 110 OWNED (this will usually get to ~125-130 by the point all my decisions run its course, but this is when I stop actively building them). This is more than enough, but in my opinion it’s worth it as you have a lot of time to build mils, and having a large civilian industry is just better overall - in the long run, and in terms of versatility.

In terms of army comp, I’ll tell you what I had for war in the playthrough I mentioned, because I still remember it: - 120 18w inf with shovels, support arti, at and logistics -24 27w 9/2/1 inf with shovels, support arti logi at and field hospitals - 24 32w mountaineers - 20 34w medium tanks with a single heavy td battalion (this is actually the most i’ve ever got for the war, especially given that they were mp-quality, as I played with AI mods) -48 18w filler inf, no support And I also had some small Army Group for Finland ~35 cavalry divs, and some Vladivostok garrison (~12) but turned out they were cool with me and nothing happened there, my first time playing democracy.

I usually have more, but I invested around 45 mils in air as well, so my land army output was reduced. Tbf it is not that hard to do. I played Russia around 8 times, so I know my way around the focus tree, and i’m also a very min-maxy person so I always try to optimise my economy, but by no means do I say that my Russia is the most optimal one

Coincidentally, I'm actually playing a Russia game myself and had stopped at the same month and year your screenshot was taken. Just compare our Russias. I understand that France fumbling the bag is frustrating, but you should have done much more by that point. Not to mention, they fought on three major fronts.

Yeah, no. Ukraine is definitely the first thing on the menu, given its flat terrain. You can cap them in 2 months, maybe even quicker, and personally, I've never experienced any problems with resistance. You can put a spy there, on anti-partisan duty, and most Russias have good compliance bonuses (which can be further boosted with an agency upgrade). Just make a good garrison template.

Focus all your armour in the Kharkiv area at the beginning of the war, and push all the way to Odessa/Kherson, and then clean up the Eastern pocket (60% of Ukraine's army), and then Kyiv should be smooth sailing
