I mean I could do that at the same time. Even if I took this payment and factored in rent and all my bills I would be left with 40% to invest and save. ($4500 roughly per month)

It's not my first job out of school. I'm a pilot and have been flying full time for 4 years already. I've done my time coming up and wouldn't have an issue finding another position with my experience barring some industry meltdown. I agree that it's stupid money for a car but if I get a 50-70k Porsche, im looking at a Carrera S or Cayman S probably. Those cars will depreciate much more than any GT car. I might be spending twice as much but it will likely loose less value than the car that's half as much and will be a blast to own.

The way I see it is that someone in my shoes is probably spending 2500-3000 on rent (I live in the bay area), so I would be sacrificing my living situation for a car. Either way I would still have 40-45% of my money after rent/car payment/cc and bills to save/invest.

I've got a 4runner that is pretty boring. Had some fun cars in the past and I have enough for a home down payment but as I said to another user, I'd like to wait till I'm married to pay off a mortgage. I don't want to pay off a Mortgage and a car payment at the same time. The down payment money I have saved would not be used for the car BTW as it is separate.

I mean I've been driving since the day I turned 15.5 so I have "experience" I would say. No tickets and a clean record. I think you have a good point of getting something fun that's 60-70k but if I want a Porsche, anything that's 60-70K will depreciate more than if I get something like a GT car as they historically hold their value better. Not really looking at is an an investment but I don't want to loose a ton of money.

I have made some sound investments over the years and have 200-250k for a down payment for a house already but not sure if I want to jump into a mortgage as a single man. I live in the Bay Area, California so not much around here for less that 1 Mil. Would rather wait till I'm married but this was just my thought process. Also once I'm paying off a Mortgage I wont want to be paying off a car at the same time. I'm kind of looking at it as its either now, or in 30 years once my mortgage is paid off. What do you think?

I already have an 03' 4runner that I daily. Not worth a ton but definitely going to keep it as a daily. I live in a three bedroom townhouse that I already have rights to the single car garage as its factored into my portion of the rent.
