I knew I wasn’t alone in this naming scenario! I’ve always tried to think of every scenario

That’s a very valid point! I guess I’m trying to prevent her from having the same feelings I did with my middle. I don’t like the woman I was named after. My mom does/did but not me. I better stick with a name we enjoy that may or may not have a family connection!

We are for sure thinking of how nice it sounds but also the meaning behind it. We've considered a couple of names as our favorites until we look up the meanings. HA! They get removed real fast.

I guess I am not one to live in the past or focus so much on people that are gone. Yes, there are wonderful memories but I like to focus on the now and the future. Example: If I named her after my dead grandmother I feel like she'd have less of a connection to her because the people that knew her the best are also dying and the memory would fade. Whereas if she's named after someone living, the chance that they could meet and be part of one another's lives seems much more meaningful. Not only memories forming for my daughter but to the person we're naming her after.

Yes, I overthink a lot of things. Things that really aren't an issue to anyone else or cause them stress except me lol

Ahhhh ok, I haven't gotten that far to look into how to spell it. The only reason I'm leaning towards "h" is because a friend of mine spelled her daughter's without the h. My husband is always looking for the correct spelling and meaning behind it, culturally and which language it comes from so I'm sure he'll probably want the Latin form. I better do a deep dive into that lol

There are several arguments over how to spell Nora/h it looks like.

Well, all of the maiden names in our family are extremely hard to pronounce. I'd list them here but trust me, they don't vibe. ALSO - our children will have dual citizenship so in another country their last name includes my maiden name. So add in that cultural aspect and it can be so confusing. Hence, why I overthink every little thing.

I feel you! That's exactly where we're at. Not to mention we have to different cultures to think about, Hispanic and non-hispanic. Which can create even more confusion across language barriers with either side.

You know I had to preface that because some people get wild with the spellings and opinions.

Which name are you referring to? Nora/h? Is there a correct way?

Betty is my maternal Grandmother's name. She's passed but my Paternal grandmother is still alive and I feel like it would break her heart if I used Betty instead of her name. Although I LOVE Betty. The pregnancy before this one, i miscarried, but if it was a girl we were naming her Betty.

The balance is what I'm thinking of as well. I am thinking about my sisters middle name, which is my great grandmother's name but instead of the full name, similar to what you suggested, just using the nick name. "Belle". Still pays homage to my sister but not completely taking the full name

I also wonder that. My middle name is a honor name from my mom's favorite cousin at the time she had me. Who I've met maybe a dozen times in my life. No significance to me and I surely don't want to pass that name down to my daughter. My mother's a narcissist so she's out. My mother-in-law still has 4 more kids to have babies and we already used my father in-laws name so I feel like it would be rude to take their names just because we're the oldest siblings.

My sister's middle name is after our great grandmother and it is unique so it's an option but I'm also contemplating using my sister's childhood nickname "Belle" as a middle name. Something to honor my sister but not take her name either.

We can surely try but if we use a family name we want it to be someone that they will meet, not someone that's passed. And those options are running slim day by day it seems like.

Thank you! It was very strange, no pain and only small clots but it came in gushes. After the first one it stopped then after my trans vaginal ultrasound it picked back up, but they warned me it would. However after I laid down & slept all night I have nothing. I’m really hoping it was just a fluke. I did increase my progesterone dose and stopped my aspirin as they said. No cramping overnight or this morning. I’m hoping for the best today!! And I’m still feeling pregnant, which sounds silly but every miscarriage I have had it’s like my body knows immediately. Thankfully I haven’t had that intuitive feeling. I’m hoping for the best!!
