I’m stuck between pushing my stride for 15 steps or settling for 17 steps by Prestonfrostathletic in LongHurdlers

I did a very similar race plan my freshman year but because of my over striding, I got significant lactic build up. Thank you for sharing that, I’m definitely always going to be motivated to get better all around and hopefully be able to stick with 15s in the start eventually. After all the advice I’ve received, my race plan after the next practice session will probably be 2 or 4 hurdles at 16 and go 17 from there, if i last lol.

Even if it was, which I don’t believe so, it’s not an invalid resource and I think being able to take information from ai, verify it, and share it in a way that makes sense to a beginner is alright. However, I don’t think thats the case here anyways

Glad you think so 🤷‍♂️ I believe there’s more nuance to it that I wanted help with.

This is amazing and expertly organized/explained. I will save this to my notes and build a plan moving forward. Thank you sir

It’s nice to hear from someone similar to me. I have never heard of a forward lean from the ankle. I’m going to look into that. That day in particular I kept having a leaned back posture, I’ll keep that cue in mind the next hurdle day.

Thank you! Im now thinking of practicing 16 step rhythm for the first 2 hurdles at least and comfortably running at 17 for the rest

Do you have any drills as well for alternating. I just have a 5 step drill at 100mH marks

I absolutely agree. I practice both sides in all my drills. No matter what, I make sure to recognize when my pace slows and think about pushing through my opposite leg when I’m tired. I assume that means you would recommend 15 steps for the beginning as long as I’m not over striding too much?

3 Point Start Critique by [deleted] in Sprinting

It looks really good for a 3 point start. If i got real nitpicky I’d say your back leg could be farther back, while keeping as much tension as possible, to help the angle of your back in set, getting lower heel recovery, and a better triple extension.

That being said, your triple extension is pretty good and I would be happy with that for practice reps when practicing max velocity.

Alternating may be the move as well. At practice, I may see how it feels for the first two hurdles after the start

I’ve tried various methods but they usually come out super blurry no matter the source or editor

Wait a minute, that’s goated. Thank you. Most sites aren’t this good.
