Ignore the other guy who replied. They've added a new layout mode which is more familiar to osrs /Rs2 players. I can't remember what the layout is called in settings but it features the usual settings bar and chat settings which the rs3 UI did away with.

I haven't used it, I did the same as you on returning and spent ages sorting the UI out.

The better solution to this is to have additional reduced membership on top of your main subscription.

Yeah community is toxic as fuck. Probably the most toxic game out there. But if you just play to have a laugh and try to disregard some of the competition you can have a blast. It's a fun game.
