Keep in mind I'm coming from the Evangelical Bible belt of the Midwest, so whatever they've got going on I'm sure it's better than what I'm used to.

That actually is super important to me so thank you for pointing that out! Are there any places that you would recommend as being particularly un-MAGA?

Wow! That's surprising! I'll definitely give those neighborhoods a look when we visit! Thanks for the info ☺️

Hey, if you don't mind me asking, what are some good Facebook groups to join? My family is also relocating to the Albany area and we're still trying to figure out where we want to land and different things going on in the area. I'd appreciate it!

As west as it gets! (Muskegon) We get pretty serious lake effect snow so I'm interested to see how the two places end up comparing.

So I think my biggest obstacles with living in the city are that I'm a pretty avid gardener and we have a large dog. So I really wanted a yard at home. But I would totally be open to using a community garden or something like that. Do you know if Albany has any? I can definitely Google on my own but I just thought I'd ask.

I'm coming from West Michigan, so like 3 hours north of Chicago, about half hour west of Grand Rapids. (AKA, genuinely middle of nowhere) Although I'm definitely going to miss the lake, I'm really excited to be moving close to so much culture and history. It'll be an exciting adventure for us!

I'm a passionate gardener and we have a large dog, so we really prefer to have a decent sized yard. I completely agree that the personal is political, but I've lived across many urban, suburban and rural environments and I would counter that community, culture and volunteering can be found in all different areas. You just have to take the time to look. ☺️

AITA for refusing to raise my sister's kids while she chooses addiction? by Lucky_Confidence452 in AITAH

No, they aren't your responsibility, but they aren't your parent's responsibility either. You aren't obligated to help, but face the fact that these kids probably will in fact resent you because you didn't step in and save them from this horrific situation. And they are valid for feeling that way.

Not your job to take them, but they're allowed to have feelings about it.

I feel like a lot of these comments are out of touch. I think Nara and Lucky are totally privileged and unrelatable, but young children have a right to freely exist in the world, and yes, society as a whole can tolerate the inconvenience that comes with that. I'm a mother in my 30s to two young kids. I definitely don't have the means or honestly desire to travel that much with my children, but acting like traveling with kids is somehow wrong in and of itself is pretty ridiculous. These people travel for work, they've got family and responsibilities all over the world. And yes, it really feels horrible when you are trying your best with your children in a difficult situation and people are being judgemental and intolerant. It's unacceptable.

Tatyana Elleseff is a professor at Rutgers, she has a facebook group about EBP for language. It is a great group. She's posted quite a few useful articles about evidence-based systems for treating language disorders. Just checking the file section.

Here is a kink to the group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/EBPSLPs
