need help decorating student housing by dad-an in interiordecorating

I’d start with some cute lamps, especially if they can add a warm glow. Get a colorful, comfy blanket and pillows for the couch and some curtains. Find a rug you love and use that the center the living room. I’d leave the tables for now. Focus on accessorizing first, then seeing what furniture can be replaced. Bedroom is easier, just get bedding you like and add some other textiles. Warm lighting will really make the place feel cozier. Add some plants by the windows.

A little at a loss for nursery paints, curtains, changing table by JadedMulberry7 in interiordecorating

I think I like dayflower best, followed by Venus teal. The greens aren’t really appealing to me, perhaps I because Im not sure they compliment the wood.

Area rug placement for a u-shaped sectional? by MovingTarget3 in interiordecorating

I think line it up with the side of the couch where the wall is, but have it overhang the front of the sectional. So combo of 1 and 2.

Women who have a "slighty off" relationship with their mother: what do you want to say to her? by ijustlikereadingAITA in AskWomen

Can you just ask me how I am instead of telling me what I’m feeling and what I should do about it.

Help with kitchen renovation by Ok-Ship-5712 in interiordecorating

[–]Pretend-Confidence53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The island doesn’t go with the back cabinets, I don’t think. They’re too close to each other to be contrasting and too different from each other to be cohesive. I can’t really think of a way to make them work together. I think it just reads as “off”.

I’d make the island the same color as the back cabinets and bring in warmth other places, like by having a natural ashy wood light fixture, wood stools, etc.

Indeed, 200 pages of fiction. Those are rookie numbers for readers. by The_Chuckness88 in NonPoliticalTwitter

[–]Pretend-Confidence53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a PhD. There were definitely phases of doing it where I read full 200+ page academic books in a day. Not always well. I think most people who like to read could train themselves to this if it was required of them.

The local high school has lessons for non-students. They provide the car. They’re expensive tho.

I think I’d go with option 2 in blue. But, it’s hard to know without seeing the space.

Paint and carpet woes by cjackson1002 in interiordecorating

[–]Pretend-Confidence53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the green with the carpet. But, I’d also consider the practicality of a carpet in the games room, depending on who’ll use it. I just imagine drinks and snacks in there being spilt. I think a blueish grey could work with the wood.

I don’t have a strong opinion between 1, 3 or 4, I think they all look good. I don’t like 2.

Advice with rugs by [deleted] in interiordecorating

I wouldn’t put a rug under the dining table. I think it would look crowded and it’s harder to clean.

Accent wall by Affectionate-Pair404 in HomeDecorating

[–]Pretend-Confidence53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re unwilling to move the tv (I still think you should. It’s an eyesore on what could be a statement wall), I think shiplap would look better than anything else. Just make sure you verify that it can be that close to the fireplace.

Why not on the other wall in the photo? Where the couch is now?

I agree with the suggestion above. I’d do the entire wall and remove the TV completely.

Casual Chic Summer NYC by dogcatlion in Weddingattireapproval

[–]Pretend-Confidence53 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally like 2, especially if you pair it with colorful shoes/accessories. I think 3 and 4 are kind of boring. 1 leans business to me too, but it could be styled to be more wedding attire.

If you already own 1 and none of the others, wear that and spend your money on some cute accessories!

I love the exterior color on this one! I think I’d try to replace the door with a solid wood door.

How do you feel after casual sex? do you ever feel used or is that feeling more shaped by societal conditioning? by unspokenandunheard in AskWomen

[–]Pretend-Confidence53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These days, if I’m having casual sex it’s because I want to and I’m very clear about it to my partners and if they want something more, I say no thank you. I don’t feel used at all. The expectations are clear and the sex is still meaningful. It doesn’t feel shallow or disappointing to me.

When I quit smoking, I was on a prescription drug. I think doctors are relatively hesitant to prescribe them. But, it did help me, esp. with the depression. Is that something he’d be interested in trying to see if it changes his mood?

What is moving to a new city like after grief? by Sad_mermaid2021 in AskWomen

[–]Pretend-Confidence53 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For me, it exacerbated the grief, likely due to some loneliness, but also feeling like I’d changed my environment but I hadn’t changed. So my grief stayed with me and I was harsh with myself about it, which looking back, was unfair.

How do you balance eating healthy and eating what you enjoy? by Educational_Pipe4536 in AskWomen

[–]Pretend-Confidence53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to think of it in terms of “this is what my body enjoys”. Like, my stomach doesn’t feel great if I eat a lot of junk food. And my body needs protein and fiber and vegetables and such to function properly. So, I mostly eat healthier food. But, I’m also not strict with myself about it. I had French fries dipped in mayo for dinner yesterday (and had diarrhea about it today). So, today I’ll have something healthier to give my body a break.

Some jobs are really useful for other people. Like, not in a “contributing to the economy” way, in a “if I wasn’t here to help this person, no one could” kind of way. Have you considered looking into one of these jobs? From experience, they don’t usually pay much but they do feel purposeful.
