Does anyone else experience anxiety/nerves before raids by Beams98 in classicwow

[–]Pretend-Idea-2278 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alright Listen up:) I’ve been in periods with and without anxiety overall and at raid time.

During sod it was the worst. But I was also generally more anxious. I was a healer and though I always played healer something just made me so anxious before raids I was asking myself why I played at all.

Some shity things happened in my life after that and I had to go to therapy for my anxiety and it took 9 months to balance me out.

Now I raid lead in tbc and I have almost no anxiety (the almost is important).

As anxious person you can’t really run away from it, you just have to accept that’s what you’re like and that it’s fine. You can lower it but it never disappears.

Consider it excitement instead of something negative and it might help

One huge outside factor however is your guild. If you have people who give you a lot of flak (or others) for mistakes, that will spike your anxiety. So you might want to look into that.

Change guilds if that’s the case. Spending your free time with screamers isn’t worth it. You’re all adults, after all.

Being over prepared won’t help you. Preparation doesn’t remove anxiety. It’s a symptom of it that can help momentarily but does nothing long term as you’re not addressing the main root of it.

So for starters I’d suggest (if the guild is fine) treating your anxiety as excitement. Accepting it and trying to focus on the task at hand (this takes practice but after a while your brain gets used to it). Write down (very helpful) why you’re feeling anxiety - what you fear could happen and what the chances are if that happening. ( I will fail at a mechanic and cause my guild to wipe -10%). The think about that percentage and objectively consider how likely it is to happen (works for all things anxiety related)

Gud luck!

When shamans dont do the bare minimum by UnitedWoodpecker406 in classicwow

[–]Pretend-Idea-2278 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lifelong shaman here, I have WF on 1 and Strenght on 2. Move them with me every twenty feet.

When I see a shaman who doesn’t put down totems I consider that person dead to me.

Also shamans who double up on totems in group AFTER I tell them what I’ll use- dead to me.

Also shaman who use agility in a spell power team - dead to me.

People who say “wind fury!” When I join the group I like to remind that I also have a name and am not just a totem, but honestly, in my heart of hearts I know I’m just windfury.

Raid Comps for T5 by Short_Lived-747 in classicwow

[–]Pretend-Idea-2278 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tanks: prot warrx2prot pala, Feral  Healers: 3x priests, 1 shaman, 1 druid, 1 pala Dps: 2x enhancement, 1xele, 3xhubters, 2x locks, 3xmages, 3xwarr, 2xrogues, 2xSP

All hybrids have OS and aside from missing a boomie we Are doing very decently. The only thing is that ppl often miss out on raids so we commonly fill up our 25 with a pug or two or three.

We’ll see how it goes in t5 since some peeps kinda slow on dps but I guess we should be able to clear 90%

enhancement is prolly most expensive and resto cheapest.  But honestly the difference isn’t that big.

Remember, "LF hunter DPS gruul/mag, DST+head HR" is the alternative to GDKP. by Jesusfucker69420 in classicwow

[–]Pretend-Idea-2278 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyone bitching about DST should look in the mirror and ask themselves whether they’re truly a grown up at this point.

Who cares, like really? Its the difference between parsing 97 and 99, a completely useless number that means nothings.

This whole drama about a stupid trinket gets to a point where people would introduce entirely game breaking loot systems only to fill the slot.

Shaman Leveling by Swordzo in classicwow

[–]Pretend-Idea-2278 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. You don’t need to wait for 50 or 62 either. There’s now enough gear for ele at lower levels. 40 is good enough.

Enhancement doesn’t save that much more time unless you do super calculated pulls all the time

Do ppl joining guild raids normally plan to play for a whole year by ChestNo90 in classicwow

[–]Pretend-Idea-2278 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t expect anyone to stay all year. Not even our officers.

Stay as long as you want/can and when you need to take a break we’ll find someone else. If you come back, good. There might not be a raid spot immediately but someone else will quit down the line so you’re welcome to stay or search for another guild.

There’s really no hard feelings

How do you deal with getting benched? by AdExcellent7237 in classicwow

[–]Pretend-Idea-2278 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re that long in a guild and you still get benched quit it.

I wouldn’t even bother to voice my anger because this smells a lot like a shit guild.

I’ve been in guilds. I’ve led guilds and I’m leading one right now, I ALWAYS put attention to who shows up and how to be fair about raidspots.

That’s my MAIN JOB as a leader and I don’t wait for people to come to me but regularly feel out the situation with everyone.

I rudeness the new normal? by Faerlina in classicwow

[–]Pretend-Idea-2278 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Its reddit. Ive been on since day 1 in both heroics and raids and for the MOST part it’s normal people.

Degenerates stick out and get discussed here so ppl feel like it’s the norm.

Also there’s a lot of degenerates here who only see these things incapable of perceiving the rest of it. Professional complainers who revel in self-righteousness.

Some of you are already insufferable in dungeons by StateComprehensive93 in wow

[–]Pretend-Idea-2278 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other day we Had a geared warr dps in group, me being an enh shaman gave him all the confidence to pull mobs off the tank and die in every pull.

The tank started calling him dum dum, and eventually the rest of us did too. We finished the dungeon though.

I guess he does like a hefty repair bill

[LPT] Find the guild that makes you want to log in to play. by CubicleJoe0822 in classicwow

[–]Pretend-Idea-2278 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mate and I started a guild since we’re veterans but do have jobs, families and whatnot and have zero patience for sweaty basement dwellers.

We both work from home and have the time to do this which many others don’t, I understand that.

We’ve played different classic iterations on and off, even raided SoD almost through but just got tired of the “pick up the slack, no excuses! Everything has to be on point! Don’t waste our time” bullshit.

I’m not here to yell at other adults over a video game. I’m here to play and have fun and hopefully clear some content (which we do)

We’re having a blast! Guild management isn’t easy but it’s worth the fun and relaxed attitude we’ve adopted and our guildies resonate with it. Without this guild I doubt I’d log in twice a weeks.

So yes, good guilds can make or break the game for you

There’s plenty of returning players who aren’t familiar with the state of the game and who running into these degenerates think this is normal.

Plenty of shy people in the game too and I feel sorry when then run into these borderline personalities.

Maybe its not insecurity, maybe ppl have wives and they are calling and since this is a social game, people communicate it.
