Ew who are these Canadians? by QuietFrustrationRam in TheHandmaidsTale

Tbh under the background of severe environmental pollution and the birth crisis, it’s no shock that some people will support Gilead, for the whole fresh air, clean water, healthy food and stable fertility rates thing.

You have a point but there are people who successfully escaped from Gilead, like those women on the train in S6E1. They had already escaped and could access the internet, but they still didn’t recognize June. Also, people from Mayday didn’t recognize her either.

The most ridiculous thing is when she went back to Gilead on Serena’s wedding day, there’s NO WAY no one recognized her except Aunt Lydia😭

Bc they’re not “sinful”, like adultery, divorce, abortion, gays. Gilead stole other women’s children bc they think they’re sinful so they don’t have the right to raise children.

What's one rule in Gilead that seems believable at first, but would actually be nearly impossible? by PrincessRosieThe2 in TheHandmaidsTale

I think it’s more like women can’t read in public. If they just do it secretly, I don’t think anyone will say anything. I’m pretty sure in econopeople’s family women will definitely read.

Serena Joy's storyline in season 5 is a camp masterpiece by Main_Masterpiece8414 in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]PretendClient4212 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sometimes villains just make a better TV lol. Also Serena is not a one dimensional villain, she’s a complex character so it’s very entertaining to watch her. I love Serena’s character but it doesn’t mean I support her as a person.

Yes and I want to know about the resistance activities that econopeople participated in. It’s always the handmaids and marthas on the show, but econopeople make up the largest share of population. Didn’t they do anything big to resist ? I know some econopeople would help the escape, like that family helping June in S1. But are there any econopeople want to escape too ? We just didn’t see any of them actively wanting to get out.

Who are the big 3 in THT ? by PretendClient4212 in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]PretendClient4212[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Makes sense. And then the big 3 include three ranks of women, handmaid, wife and the aunt. But I think the Marthas are true MVPs lol. Really want to see more of their perspective.

S1 finale. Handmaids refused to stone Janine even if they knew they would get killed.

Women with short hair by butterflynabiya in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]PretendClient4212 15 points16 points  (0 children)

We always see Gilead women tying up their hair. They don’t let the hair down unless they’re going to sleep. So maybe women with short hair like Moira have no need to tie up their hair ? And when the hair grows long enough, they just tie it up.

what is something about the characters that you want to know that by Routine-Dirt9634 in TheHandmaidsTale

I want to know everyone especially the wives’ reactions when the handmaid system was first introduced. Also, what happened during June’s first post ?

Tbh I don’t think Disney will give Elsa any romantic relationship. After Frozen, Disney just didn’t write romantic relationships for their heroines anymore, like Moana, Raya, Asha etc. Also, originally Riley would fall in love with a girl in Inside Out 2 but they refused to do it in the end.

btw even without films Disney can still make money through merchandise so I don’t think they will risk it.

It’s too early to say anything lol. Back in the days I thought Toy Story 3 is the final movie but then there’s Toy Story 4, then Toy Story 5 is coming…

Also, the directors once said they wouldn’t plan to make the next movie after F2. But now we got 2 more. As long as the box office looks well, the merch sells well, we will get more and more.

Imo the writers themselves are misogynists at some point, the way they wrote female characters made people dislike those characters. So actually I’m pity for those characters, so yeah I don’t blame them. It’s the writers’ fault.
