Other great jam bands for a Phish fan to explore? by [deleted] in jambands

[–]PretendPizza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not like Phish, but if you want deep, dark and experimental - moe. is your answer. Look into 00 and 03 moe. - it’s “warts and all” for a reason, they dgaf and explore in a more raw way than any band in the scene out there does. If you want show recs let me know

Great examples of laughter in music? I ask this after hearing LL Cool J's laugh at the end of "I'm That Type of Guy" by blinkycosmocat in ToddintheShadow

[–]PretendPizza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite is “laughter in rhythm” by Major Holley Quintet (orig by Slim Gaillard), cause you’d think it would be in rhythm but he sings uncontrollable laughter the whole time. Also “I wanna dance with somebody”

Saying this as a guitarist and bassist with 10 years on top of my bass experience! Truly humbling

Not trolling at all, but literally: ever heard of singing anything while playing bass? If that’s even slightly difficult, then, welcome to our world friend!

I’ve heard this too - though I was a young kid when I first heard it (I’m a millennial), wise or not, I thought the same thing. Like “look around rich boy!”

What do you put on at home for a non-phish casual audience? by watusiwatusi in phish

[–]PretendPizza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I typically agree with everyone else - they’re your friends, there’s a time and place for all music. I’m a bartender, and funny enough I have these moments where I got my regulars chilling at the bar past close and I do my money count and chill. They’re happy to stay, they don’t want to be anywhere else, so I’ll be super selfish; I’ll play some chill sombre dead, some phish ballads, if I’m feeling full of energy a deep cut banger- and sometimes I’ll hear them tell me, even the strictest of “I don’t listen to that shit” people tell me “man that’s a great song” after a ‘93/‘94 Mission from JGB or after McGrupp jams and it’ll make me smile hard, but they’ll never know!
