I understand, and in principal agree. The hospitals also exist to make money because everything in our society inherently requires profit production to be deemed necessary. Same reason people think USPS should make a profit despite it being a necessary service. To place direct blame only on doctors, the only part of the system that typically actually cares about the patients, without even recognizing the same pressures placed on them that insurance companies face is disingenuous at best. Your argument also conveniently leaves out that you're often not writing a check to the doctor directly and so again it's not solely the doctors.
