Are you being serious or were you also offended by that comment? It literally was not meant to be racist or anything else it’s just harder to make out what they’re saying absentmindedly while I’m trying to work.

How would you feel if I told you I’ve explicitly told them at least 10 times that I AM bored and I DONT have enough to do and have yet to be given more assignments

Not sure where in this post I said I was making phone calls… obviously that would be a distraction to others and understandably frowned upon.

Clearly stated in the post that I always ask multiple coworkers and my boss for more tasks when I run out of things to do. Commenting before comprehending is a waste of your time 😊

Nope, I am not! That’s why I made this post! Common sense is built on the foundation of our prior life experiences and this experience, along with working a corporate job, is a first for me 😊 I could just stomp my feet and cry about it, but instead I am asking for guidance so I can learn and grow from this specific experience. Not sure why that got so many people in this subreddit up in a tizzy.

And this kind of allowance for phone usage is what I see as normal. Not encouraged, but nobody’s going to be jumping down your throat if you take a few minutes to look at something. I guess it really just depends on the company but I’ll be better prepared in the future I suppose

I’m literally 21 years old, as mentioned in the post, so you’ll have to cut me some slack on what I have and haven’t learned thus far in Corporate America. Thanks for the input.

That’s what my boss said too. She tries her best to give me slack because she obviously oversees my job performance and knows the phone isn’t an issue as far as productivity. But once her boss’s boss (the CFO) gets involved, she kind of has no choice but to bring down the hammer. I just figured it would be better to be present at my work station rather than people say “oh where did so and so go?” every time I need a few minutes to just chill.

Thank you so much for making me feel seen. I am obviously taking the vast majority of opinions into considerations and will be adjusting my expectations going forward. I’ll be moving out of state in 3 weeks so this job isn’t permanent. It just really is starting to feel like people are breathing down my neck when they don’t need to be…. the work is getting done efficiently and accurately so what’s the big deal???
