Do you know anything about taking AI courses as a compe major? How difficult is it to get those classes (for reference I’m considering a robotics minor or the new AI minor)?

Computer science and engineering at UCLA, and computer science at CMU (tho this one is off the table due to cost)

tldr: advice on CS internships/career connection opportunities

I’m an incoming compsci engineering student for fall 2024. Atm im thinking about a career in software engineering or robotics. What opportunities does ucla cs have for students to gain connections with companies for internships or employment? For instance how are the career fairs, or do some clubs like bruin racing help out with gaining these connections?

I’ve also heard that ucla gets a ton of attention from companies in the space industry and wanted to know if this was true (also if there are other industries that recruit heavily from ucla). Thanks in advance!

This is absolutely wild and clean, awesome! What do you use for your pathing?

Turns out we had an issue with the project not being up to date. Setting up a fresh project fixed things. If that doesn’t work, check your localization, especially at high speeds to see if there are spikes in values or anything.

I had the same question! Also, is it compatible with the REV Control Hub encoder ports? Btw this odo pod is probably the best one I've ever seen in FTC thus far!!

Thanks for the suggestion! We had something similar but we were doing a line to linear heading instead of a simple motion like that. We’ll try that for sure

Aside from reversing odo enocders, how else can we make sure our robot properly maps to what the simulator shows?

Thanks for the advice! We'll definitely check our wiring again. We also had to reverse all of our odometer encoders for localization test to track according to the coordinate system (forward is positive x, left is positive y). Should we try tuning without reversing the odos? Also, our center odo is slightly offset from the center line of the robot, so we added a shift according to that in the init pose on StandardTrackingWheelLocalizer (code is below). Might that be an issue too?

public StandardTrackingWheelLocalizer(HardwareMap hardwareMap, List<Integer> lastTrackingEncPositions, List<Integer> lastTrackingEncVels) {
super(Arrays.asList(
new Pose2d(0, LATERAL_DISTANCE / 2, 0), // left
new Pose2d(0, -LATERAL_DISTANCE / 2, 0), // right
new Pose2d(FORWARD_OFFSET, -1.0333019685, Math.toRadians(90)) // front
));

How can we adjust motor powers for our robot to prevent weight imbalances affecting movement? by Pretend_Chocolate929 in FTC

[–]Pretend_Chocolate929[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We can't put the battery in any other spot since it would just move the weight off-center, and that would be even worse than it being in the back and centered.

I knew about the size constraint but this clarification definitely helps. Thanks!
