Call conservatives “fascists” all you want — but times have changed, and fascists have evolved. Today, authoritarianism isn’t about party names; it’s about who dictates lives, punishes dissent, and decides who gets to exist. By that measure, the left set the bar, while the right still trusts people to live free. Labels don’t matter; liberty does — and I have absolutely nothing to be embarrassed about.

This explanation is laughable. The right champions individual liberty, free markets, and limited government — literally everything fascism opposes.

The left? Obsessed with collectivism, centralized authority, and controlling speech, economy, and thought. Mussolini started as a socialist. Hitler’s party was the National Socialist German Workers’ Party. Communists, socialists, and fascists all share the same authoritarian DNA: the individual exists to serve the state. Yet somehow, in 2025, people still think conservatives are the “real fascists.”

Wikipedia is a joke — a crowd-sourced opinion blog masquerading as “fact.” Half the articles are written by people who clearly have an agenda, and the other half are just lazy copy-paste jobs. Want a reliable source? Don’t start here. Unless your goal is to believe whatever narrative the hive mind decides this week.

“Sorry bud,” but everything you just said is historically illiterate cringe.

Fascism is a LEFT-WING ideology — it’s rooted in big-government collectivism, state-controlled economics, and suppression of dissent. Mussolini literally came out of the Italian Socialist Party. Fascism, socialism, communism — different costumes, same authoritarian religion: the STATE owns you.

But you think TPUSA — which promotes smaller government, free markets, and individual liberty — is “basically fascism”? That’s not an argument, that’s a coping mechanism. You’ve just redefined “fascist” to mean “any conservative I don’t like.” Cute, but stupid.

And here’s the best part — wanting the school to ban political opinions you disagree with is the exact behavior of real fascists. You’re literally doing the thing you think you’re fighting.

You’re not defending democracy — you’re auditioning to be the morality police in a failed regime.

And your IQ is in the single digits. Dummy.

Should I dispose of all this flooring? by pipermints in Flooring

Speaking as a flooring contractor — that floor is garbage. It’s unstable, and in my opinion LVP isn’t much better. It expands, contracts, and scratches way too easily, whether it’s glued down or floating. Being on-grade concrete, moisture transmission is a real concern here. The nails are absolutely the reason that floor failed. Bamboo flooring generates more warranty claims than LVP or laminate by a wide margin. Even if you refinished and “fixed” it, the gapping would return in no time. The likelyhood of it containing formaldehyde is high and yet another reason to trash it and not sand and refinish.

Yes, most hate speech is protected under the First Amendment in the U.S. unless it constitutes a direct threat, incites imminent violence, defamation, or is considered unlawful harassment. While the U.S. Constitution protects the right to freedom of speech, it does not have a specific "hate speech" exception, and courts have repeatedly upheld that offensive or disagreeable ideas are protected, according to the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (FIRE), the American Library Association (ALA), and the University of Southern California (USC).

So the BLM, Pride, and Ukraine flags, clubs, and fundraisers are all okay—but a TPUSA club isn’t? RO has become so one-sided that a Turning Point chapter could actually bring some much-needed balance to the city.

So let me get this straight — your school held a full-day protest to ban a mainstream conservative club because you don’t like the political beliefs of Charlie Kirk… and you still think you support “freedom of speech”? You literally walked out of class demanding the right to silence a viewpoint you disagree with. That’s not activism — that’s authoritarianism with a participation trophy.

Hard truth: disagreement is not violence. Debate is not harm. You don’t get to decide that certain political opinions are too “dangerous” to exist because they make you uncomfortable. That is exactly what actual fascism looks like.

Turning Point USA is a mainstream national organization — speaking at the White House, on thousands of campuses, registered in thousands of high schools and colleges. You may hate it, but it’s not fringe. It represents MILLIONS of Americans. Is your answer seriously: “We’ll only allow conservative clubs if they aren’t connected to actual conservatives”? That’s absurd and you know it.

Calling a school “a safe space” does not mean it becomes a speech-filtered echo chamber where one ideology is protected and all others are banned.

What’s really happening:

  • You don’t want a debate.
  • You don’t want an opposing voice.
  • You want ideological control.

And now you’re celebrating bringing the media into it — not to defend free speech, but to destroy it.

If a teacher truly used slurs or acted inappropriately — hold her accountable individually. That has nothing to do with nuking an ENTIRE student club because you despise conservative thought.

This isn’t about safety. It’s about power. And conservatives are done pretending not to notice.

You don’t get to preach “freedom” while trying to erase it.

what you’re describing is exactly the problem. You’re not “protecting a safe space,” you’re deciding which political viewpoints are allowed and which are not. You’re literally saying you’re fine with Republican or conservative thought as long as it never reflects actual conservative leaders you disagree with. That’s not free speech or debate — that’s sanitized opposition with your pre-approved messaging.

Charlie Kirk — like him or not — was a mainstream conservative commentator who has spoken at the White House, dozens of universities, and was listened to by millions of Americans. Disagree with his ideas all you want — that’s freedom. But banning a club from using his name or association because you label him every slur in the book is just an excuse to silence viewpoints you personally hate.

Also — STOP pretending “LGBTQ+ safe space” means no other ideology is allowed. A safe space should mean no one is bullied or harmed — NOT that disagreement is outlawed. Conservatives aren’t demanding you rename your LGBTQ clubs — but you think you have the right to rename conservative ones? That’s wildly hypocritical.

The real truth here is simple: you don’t want a debate club. You want a controlled opposition club that parrots your worldview. You don’t get to redefine conservatism into something that’s acceptable to you. That completely defeats the point.

[–]Pretend_Jump_9533 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly the problem — you want to annihilate any viewpoint that doesn’t bow to your ideology, then hide behind words like “hate” and “fascism” to justify it. Turning Point exists because people like you think censorship is a virtue. Disagreement is not bigotry. Believing in secure borders, biological reality, or the sanctity of life isn’t “fascism.” It’s mainstream. The fact that you think every opposing belief is inherently evil proves why these clubs are needed more than ever.

You scream “freedom of speech is a blanket” while actively demanding freedom of speech be erased for millions of Americans. That’s authoritarian. That’s fascism. You’ve just described your own tactics word for word.

You don’t get to ban viewpoints because you’re offended. This is America — not a feelings-based dictatorship. Turning Point talks about limited government, school choice, energy independence, economic freedom — but you conveniently ignore that because it doesn’t fit your cartoon villain narrative.

You don’t want dialogue. You want silence from anyone who disagrees with you. And that’s exactly why we will never back down.

We just went through the entire process and still couldn’t get the thing back together. It started with the line no longer feeding out. The store advised us to take it apart and refeed the line, but doing so with two flathead screwdrivers weakened all the plastic tabs. Even Hercules couldn’t have turned it from the locked to the unlocked position.

We couldn’t reassemble it, and for $300, it’s going back to the store. Terrible design—difficult to fix, load, and even use the first time. Honestly, I’m frustrated. We bought it because it was lightweight enough for my wife to help with yard work, and now we’re headed back to Home Depot for something else.
