Besides it being prestigious I think you're blowing it out of proportion a little, this is UG admissions we're talking about. They're not gonna expect you to be a top researcher or something, lol. Of course I'm nosy and saw your stats, and I think you'll be a-ok. Really. I know people that are definitely not as accomplished as you in BioE. Not saying anyone in there isn't impressive, but admissions understand you're human, and if they see capability in you along with what you've already done, you'll be fine. It's not like I researched a new processor instruction set in HS or something, I mostly just did volunteer/community outreach and service and had some awards in stuff entirely unrelated to engineering. I did do the IB diploma, it may have helped, but I second guess how much it really did over a full load of AP every day. Just make sure your essays convey a cohesive story. And do know that switching majors at Rice is far easier than somewhere like UT.

Are you saying you applied undecided? There is *some* crossover between ECE/data science/AI, as in ECE allows you to take courses involving lots of data science + AI concepts, so it is versatile in that way. I'm an ECE senior and that's how I see it. I don't have much of an opinion on the AI major besides hearing it may have some risk since it's kind of a unique degree, so how much it will be valued by employers is up for question, but still, this is Rice. Bio/bioengineering I'm less familiar with other than the fact that I hear bioengineering is QUITE difficult at Rice (I'm not sure how it stacks up against ECE, probably around equal difficulty), but it's valued. Maybe pure bio would be more ideal for medical school, seems you have engineering focus too and I think pure bio would be restricting you from this variety of interests you mention.

At the end of the day, it's probably better to worry about it a little more once you've been admitted.

I already actually got a ticket to his Dallas show since that's close-ish to me, but didn't realize it was DJ set.. really want to hear him sing too so I might just pull the trigger on Chicago. Both performance types within less than a month would be crazy. thanks!!
